Ah, a new Stephanie Sterling video is always welcome...Even though it's fairly grim, Steph has described the latest YouTube bullshit community guideline and it's subjective enforcement on their videos. The ones that are ripping gambling apart (not promoting them like YouTube's bots are claiming).
Thus empowering the peddlers of gambling products, but never refer to it as gambling directly. Since the powerful criticism from Steph, undermines their bottom line.
In a way, I am glad that I never bothered with going into content creation (on YouTube or Twitch), if I ever do...It will probably be done independently as a possible.
As I don't want to mince words with cutesy euphemisms, as that only empowers fascists, criminals, etc. Words have power, and we can't let our power be stripped away from us.
As always, Thank God for Stephanie Sterling, a Cassandra of the Modern Age!

Fuck #youtube! I was having a nice New Year's celebration with my family and we pulled up a video so we could watch a countdown. As usual, there were some ads before the video started to play. No big deal. Then, there we are, less than a minute to midnight, another ad! Unskippable! I get that they need to show ads to fund the cost of all these videos, but fucking hell ads in the middle of videos? I never see this on my computer thanks to adblock. Next time I will use a computer.

So... youtube is silently starting to shove their auto-generated mixes into every other youtube video i search up. There is no sign whatsoever that i am clicking into a mix, and sure enough when i do its an auto-generated playlist, y'know, the kinds that just plays trough without autoplay on?
This is very clearly intentional and predatory, to keep users watching when they just wanted to watch one video
You can see in the screenshot below a video highlighted with my cursor leading to a link with one of their mixes, despite the video looking like just a video
This fucking sucks, i noticed it happening because i have an extension to block the auto-generated lists and i saw it block these normal youtube videos, i turn it off, and discover this shit. can tech companies not try for five fucking minutes to milk every second of our conscious time?

YouTube now allowing gender based discrimination on it's platform is the last straw! i will never dial down a recommendation to degoogle (if someone asks why i groan when they open chrome), never use gmaps in a pinch even if it means i'm late, change any remaining account that uses a gmail login. I have struggled for many years with youtube addiction but this pushes me over the edge.#FuckGoogle #FuckYoutube no more fascist big tech!
