Firmu SpyHide zničila až mladá hacktivistka ze Švýcarska maia arson crimew (nejde o tiskovou chybu, tak si skutečně říká), která spustila tažení proti sledovacímu softwaru s výmluvným hashtagem #FuckStalkerware. Hacknutím SpyHide se zmocnila 230 GB dat, která obsahovala nezašifrovanou komunikaci.

Z dat analyzovaných Page 404 vyšlo najevo, že v síti uvízly také stovky Čechů. Zdrojové kódy navíc prozradily, že za službou stojí Íránci.

In an undated note seen by TechCrunch, the unnamed hackers described how they found and exploited several security vulnerabilities that allowed them to compromise WebDetetive’s servers and access its user databases. By exploiting other flaws in the spyware maker’s web dashboard — used by abusers to access the stolen phone data of their victims — the hackers said they enumerated and downloaded every dashboard record, including every customer’s email address.

New, by me: Another phone spyware operation has been hacked.

A Portuguese-language spyware app called WebDetetive (not a typo) has been used to compromise over 76,000 Android phones to date.

The hackers also claim to have deleted victims' devices from the spyware's dashboard, effectively blocking compromised phones from uploading new data.

"Because #fuckstalkerware,” the hackers wrote.
