Putin is probably going to follow Iran’s example and start bombing anybody helping Ukraine, betting, probably correctly, that the response will be pressure on Ukraine, strongly worded letters and zero damage to Russia.

This won’t work because Russia is the aggressor, like the US and needs things to end. Time is on Ukraine’s side and they will win.
