"I remember a conversation I had outside of a debate where residents were telling me Spectre de Rue was destroying the neighbourhood by letting people loiter outside, but that the organization was also doing a massive expansion to bring more people in. They said it would “surely turn that stretch of Ontario Street into Vancouver’s East Hastings.” Both were problems. Neither were true. Spectre de Rue has been in the same location, which they own, for the last 25 years. Their “massive expansion” was a 300 square-foot room, extending into their own backyard, for inhalation services. The candidates for the district would pay lip service to these organizations and say publicly that they are “essential,” and then go behind their backs and have meetings with small tenants’ groups telling them they’d move these same supervised consumption sites on day one. They did so knowing full well that moving a supervised consumption site is next to impossible and all you’d really achieve is closing them down and worsening the problem for everyone."

Walked from Sean Mulvoy road through Bohermore into Galway City centre earlier, the amount of key lock boxes along the route is crazy. (Different route from my last rant about this)
The sooner tighter restriction and regulations or a complete ban on short term rentals comes in the better.

@BM_Bourguignon oui, c’est l’enfer partout, mais disons qu’en ville, y’a déjà du bruit, et surtout il y a un certain anonymat. Reproduire ça dans un petit village, c’est vraiment clueless. Ça m’est déjà arrivé d’aller voir des touristes qui faisaient la teuf à pas d’heure, et j’ai même pas besoin de m’énerver. Ils sont littéralement choqués de découvrir que les petites maisons pittoresques de leur décor de vacances pittoresque sont peuplées de vrais gens.

A few of the houses in my neighborhood have recently been bought out to become STRs (short term rentals) and given the housing crisis here it pisses me off endlessly. There's nothing that one could consider "a destination" in my neighborhood and there's hotels just a mile away.
I looked and guy who bought the spot nextdoor? He owns 77 fucking STRs around the puget sound. Absolutely insane and gross.
