The horrors persist, but so do we.

Someone who lives in a makeshift forest shelter wants to join us in the bus soon.

The Vulpibus now has an air conditioning unit fitted. We have installed a longer 4G antenna.
We almost had somewhere to go and park a while, but the landowner backed out. Again. And the convoy we are trying to form is moving along.

So the bus is still in need of a diesel refueling, and the current prices make that a matter of about $400. Links below.

We would really love to convert this bus to an EV but that is going to need a much more generous level of help than most folks here can provide.

There are also many debts to deal with, including car loan and insurance, and bureaucratic needs that have fees to pay. Capitalism is ruthless the most when it is legally enforced and you still don't have the means.

realized that my electrical bill was too high, started a process of elimination, discovered that my landlord is stealing my electricity to power some of his basement using my bedroom circuit.

So my landlord originally had fuxked up when attempting to increase the rent, and accidentally put the same amount from this past year.

After them calling us catching it, they made it sound like their fuck up was our fault. They then ask us to start paying for the increase right away. ("Know your rights" incoming)

We said "NO WAY BUCKAROO. If you provide us with a new notice, in 90 days we can definitely arrange for the adjusted amount as per provincial rental law."

Fuck landlords, and landlord sympathy.

So fun fact, as of January 1st of this year if you're a renter in RI you shouldn't be charged a "convenience fee" when paying your rent.

Something to look out for if, like me, you're still being charged one.

I think the rental inspection went ok (hopefully).

They were over an hour late, the owner attended as well. I got to chat to her about how she ended up with the house, and how it still belongs to her father who is in a nursing home, but he's put it in a trust for her. Hopefully this means that we'll be able to stay for a couple of years until we move to the UK.

I think it's an attempt to see how we've treated the house.. we moved in a month ago.

Hopefully meeting us in person will mean they are more settled about us living here and will leave us alone, and it doesn't start a habit of them thinking they can drop past when they feel like it.

As usual, I'm filing my income tax at the 11rh hour, and I'm reminded once again about one of the biggest bits of tax credit bullshit in this country:

You cannot deduct your property tax for your primary residence from your income, but you can for any rental properties you own.

Now, I'm not saying I should get a tax break because I'm fortunate and privileged enough to own my home. But I for fucking sure am saying that landlords should not yet one for owning *other people's* homes.

Fuck that bullshit.
