The whole #redis situation has gotten me thinking of licenses. Far more than I would like. 🫠

I'm now of the camp either do strong #copyleft, like #AGPL, or don't do #FOSS. Go for something like #BUSL or #FSL instead.

Everything else in between seems to break apart and be taken advantage of. ⚰️ By both the license holder and the copies. 😅

I am building a prototype of a sign training app to learn #FrenchSignLanguage. My biggest problem is finding a suitable name. Most of the catchy ones are already used. So I decided now to use the name of a cuddly toy as an acronym. LISA or LiSA

I saw, the instance is now invite only, but before asking around, I wanted to ask here, if this is a place for my project at all.

PS: I am still looking for name suggestions for my software. It will be a vocabulary trainer for (french) #sign language #FSL. The working title is "FSL-trainer", but that does not sound handsome. Already have some great recommendations, but maybe someone can add more.

I love how they presented the (1) reaction against deaf people; and (2) a parent's concern for their beloved child.

It was a very good opening for episode 9.

Another thing. They paid attention to the difference between "hard of hearing" and "deaf"; and they did not use the word "mute".

It's close to me because I have a heart for them since I was a little kid. I even studied the #FilipinoSignLanguage or #FSL in 1995/1996, and they told us this:

"We are not mute. We can speak because we have our own language, just like every human being use languages."

As an assistant professor, I focus mostly on signal and image processing in neuroscience applications. My platforms of choice are #FSL #SPM #EEGLAB #PsychoPy #MATLAB #R and #Python Programming. If you are working with these tools, feel free to "at" me any time if I can help or you know something interesting! I also have worked in #ComputationalNeuroscience, particularly in simulating neural networks with Hodgkin-Huxley equations. That was some years ago, but mathematical modeling never gets old!
