On the #fruitcake front, I've found a good easy cheat is to skip the making-it-from-scratch thing, and buy a supermarket one, then wrap it in plastic wrap and drizzle brandy or rum over it for a week or two.
The result is super rich and tasty. Reminds me of my mother's scratch made fruitcake.

I made fruitcake from scratch. It's not as sticky or as sweet as what you can buy, and the fruit tastes like real fruit. I consider it a success, although it's still an acquired taste - - no one in the house likes it but me. 😬

CW: Food - boiled fruitcake not vego
Cakes are out and cooling. Probably a little dark on top despite less time in the oven than usual (not sure why but maybe cooked faster because both main ovens in use making them a smidge hotter). Taste test (of smallest loaf) went well though. Yum! Turned them out on cooling racks now. Hopefully they’ll be right to put away by bed time. #food #fruitcake
