I bought these pottery cups as a present recently and the joy they give us every day is much greater and deeper than i had anticipated.

Handmade nearby, from Sussex clay, with beautiful earthen colours, they make you feel rooted, connected and happy. Alienation - such a key concept of Marx’s - is also about our everyday objects all being ready made. Of course we need those, but just one handmade object to use daily gives you SO much. Wanted to share this! 😊

Hate to be "reply bloke" but #FrugalAbundance comes from #SergeLatouche, Key #degrowth thinker - maybe even predates him. It's a good concept.
I have this Spanish translation from French and there's a newer book available too. Not available in English I believe.

Got a small amount of twigs, weeds and branches cluttering up the garden? Don't send them to the landfill, where diesel guzzling chippers grind them up. How to get rid of plant debris using only biological energy. Put twigs, weeds, kitchen scraps, even logs in the bottom of a large container (hopefully repurposed like this one) and put your planting soil on top. Then plant something. No gas or electric chippers or burning required. Besides the human effort of gathering and cutting up the pieces with a hand lopper, the microbes and worms do the work of turning the carbon into good soil.

regarding #phenological knowledge - all the neighbourhood people who have taken delight in this #FrugalAbundance would probably be able to say when these #carmelia normally bloom - it just doesnt make it into formalized or academic knowledge.

As my first contribution to #FrugalAbundance - a brilliant new hashtag idea by @shojiwax - here a photo of a neighbour’s pink Camellia in full bloom just now. I love the abundant generosity of front gardens, sharing joy freely with everyone walking past!

(And a side note to #ClimateDiary: no idea whether this is a “normal” time for these to flower; yet agai stumped by lack of #phenological knowledge)

Making my own cheese in the summer definitely falls into that category for me. Turning grass, herbs and coppice willow into goats camembert, hard cheese, quark or tzatziki is super satisfying and so much nicer than the usual shop fare. Also, having my own milk and cheese (and eggs and meat) means I only need to shop every so many weeks, slashing food miles and shopping miles. #frugalAbundance
