Should We?
We should have stopped the moment it started. Alas, we didn't. 'Neath a vespertine sky, we moved towards the foreseeable destination, as if ache, not chivalry, was the best morning gift awaiting. Everyday miles unending, I am learning with age, to close the door faster. Gladly...

We should have stopped, and smelled the roses along the way. We should have paused to sit by the lake. We should have slowed down to truly see each other. We should have taken the time to hug a tree.
Alas, we didn't.
Now, our last breath draws near with whispers of regret.

I didn't write this to upset anybody. It should be known by now that in hurting others, we only hurt ourselves. Alas, the smoke in the mirror obscures the view, and distorts the shadows. Another scarlet blade sheathed, they say to just be yourself. Yet, they never walk their talk.

but the temptation
was just too immense
so we grabbed
the forbidden fruit
and away we wentThe owner of the establishment
was so not amused
he cast our larcenous asses
out of Paradise -
They were hot to touch
so we had to respect
the whole pain conceptEither we wait
for the cool down event
or find an oven mitt
to protect our hand
from serious discomfort -
They were hot to touch
and hazardous to your health
but the skin charring burn
was strangely stimulating
as our sense of adventure
was #reinvigorated
by the threat
of our eventual
mutual incineration -

as we spiraled downward
with the increasing acceleration
of centrifugal force
drawing us toward
a dark future unclear
awaiting us on the other side -

as the two stubborn Zax
continued to dig in
refusing to budge
from their intransigent positionsTo these hyper creatures
of rock headed consistency
compromise is a four letter wordDays turned to weeks
while weeks bled into years
as the pendulum of time
marched to it's steady
relentless beatLife moved on
without the steadfast pair
just as it is designed to doEvolution of the species
eventually
left the poor zealots behindNow virtually extinct
trench warfare prisoners

Having her name dragged
through the scandal grinder
of social and print mediaAsked her attorney
if she could sue
the author of the hit #article
for libelThe lawyer advised
this would not be
a smart thing to do
cause every single word was true -
This isn't what she wanted
but she had to make due
with minimal life optionsSome would say she settled
but what else could she do
since her options were few
given her bridges were all burned
and her reputation as a deadly
