Fromis_9 -- Miniskirt

I'm not quite sure why this is. I have no puritanical objection to the "Sexy Concept". It's just not one of my favourite pieces of music. "Miniskirt" always seems teenage boy to me.
Although I like fromis_9 a lot, I don't think this stage is the best. Shouldn't they all be wearing miniskirts?
Chaeyoung, as always, looks great, but some of her moves seem stiff and awkward to me.
Let's not talk about Jiwon's spectacles/ Megan's glasses.
I'm sure the Sexy Concept will survive any nitpicking from me, but I don;'t want to be an insincere Kpop fan.

I'm glad that the remaining members of Fromis_9 have managed to hang onto the group's name, although I will miss the others. I wonder what sort of sound they will have in the future.
I thought hard about this picture before posting it, because even for a dedicated bangsbeliever/fringeophile like myself, this hair might be too much. Then I looked again, gave in, and decided to post, moderation be damned.

This is almost certainly the last stage ever of fromis_9. No wonder members of the audience and of the group are in tears. I will miss them!
Nevertheless, this was a good stage on which to end. Even though "Supersonic" is not my favourite of their title tracks - I prefer "Feel Good" -- it's still a good song. I also liked their styling; the choice of elegant boots and heels, as opposed to the chunky and clunky, was inspired.

I don't know why Pledis/HYBE have given up on fromis_9.
"Supersonic", their comeback earlier this year, did well. Was the prospect of a decent return on investment so slim that it precluded working on another comeback? I just don't know.
I do worry that the members, like so many in the entertainment industry in South Korea and beyond, are just being cast aside with minimal compensation for all their years of work in the industry. My guess is that their agreement with Pledis rewards them with little or nothing on the expiry of their contract; in fact, they have been workers without many of the benefits or protections that employees might reasonably expect, like decent redundancy conditions.
I'm like a lot of fans- love Kpop, hate the industry!

Every Sunday I look back at the preceding week in kpop and pick out a music video or performance that I have particularly liked. This week I have chosen fromis_9 – Me Now.

I’m always happy to see fromis_9, even though now that Gyuri has left and Jiheon is unwell, they are actually fromis_7. I liked “Me Now” when it came out about a year ago, although “Attitude” was my favourite track o the album. I have never bothered to look at the lyrics of “Me Now”, but I hear a certain wistfulness in the music; so much pop music is streaked with sadness, perhaps thereby reflecting an important aspect of the emotional life of teenagers and young adults. What some describe as their “disco lite” music might not be cutting edge, but I find it thoroughly enjoyable, especially when performed, as here, in pretty outfits.

Kpop girl group fromis_9 released "We Go" in May 2021, when the pandemic was raging and so many of us wanted to travel and couldn't.
The music video is all about wanting to do with someone special summer travel - even if we can only do it virtually or in our imagination - and includes this line, for which I calim my bonus points:
