The tadpoles have been growing nicely, getting big and good at hiding. Even more exciting, the pot pond next to my main frog pond also got some frogspawn deposited in it, and I got to see a new batch of tadpoles hatching.

I'm not surprised by this at all, but my first try at knitting the colourwork flip-top mittens didn't fit the way I wanted to. The thumb is a little weird and the opening isn't quite in the right place. Time to start over!

...which means I probably won't have them done in time for my trip in a few weeks, but they'll be warm for next winter I guess?

Having a bit of an unhurried morning, which makes it one of the rare times I can justify making my tea in this gaiwan (the small pot), which involves several small steeps in sequence to savor the changes in flavor. The tea tray was my gift to myself last year, a complete self-indulgence, along with the little frog "tea pet." Makes me feel silly and happy at the same time.
