One of the downsides of speaking a minority language (#Frysk / #Frisian) is that no app can talk back to me in my native tongue, which has always been kind of a bummer.
But now, with some AIs, I can just start a conversation in Frisian and it will reply in Frisian. Kind of amazing.

Zag dit vanmiddag in de boekwinkel in Dokkum en het leek me een leuk boekje om wat Fries mee te leren.Helaas is mijn Fries veel te slecht en vooral te passief om een recensie in het Fries te schrijven.
De geschiedenis over de bloedige slag bij Boksum van 17 januari 1586 wordt verteld via de ogen van drie drankzuchtige ex-studenten die van de Universiteit in Franeker zijn getrapt.
Veel leuke visuele grapjes en het Fries was voor mij goed te volgen. Zal het boekje nog eens herlezen en elk onbekend woord en gezegde opzoeken.

I'm translating a book in the Dutch language which is a dictionary of the Frisian language. I don't speak either.
TIL that orerdrachteljjk is orerdrachteljjk, and you'd have to be a linguist from the 1800s to get it.

It is #blackMetalMonday, and I will join @yourfutureex in an impromptu theme of promoting #blackmetal so obscure that @HailsandAles hasn't heard of it. Maybe it is a tad easier for me since I can tap in to the #Dutch scene.
So, today I bring you the cold tones of the #Frisian band Kjeld - Bonifatius. Classic #meloblack about a monk met his end in #Drachten in 754, killed by #heathen Frisians out of anger for spreading Christianity. Trve Kvlt black in an historic sense.

Today's find at a small thrift store. The title caught my eye: although in #Utrecht, the book appeared to be #Frisian. And indeed, it contains #folktales in Frisian, told by Steven de Bruin, last of the storytellers in a family of boaters and people from what we call 'De Heide' ('Heath').
