  1. Google urgently needs a doctor. Frequencies are now copyrighted, holy shit! 🙈

  2. These are the DC criminals the authorities should be looking for 24/7. They use helicopters & drones & eavesdropping devices, imsi catchers & rogue access points & stollen IP & smart TVs & ... for their criminal intents.

  4. Izotope RX is so inaccessible that I literally can't even get passed the installation screen because nothing reads! Accentize Reviver Pro installs but I can't find it anywhere on my computer, so I had to uninstall it. Basically, the two best tools for the job are completely inaccessible to the blind. i have heard of something called Reaper, which does have accessible plug-ins that work with NVDA (my screen reader) but I have no idea if any of it actually restores frequencies and such. I did, however, receive some general recommendations from Perplexity, and they seem very reasonable, so I will include them here. This is the quick version.

"Summary Table of Frequency Restoration Goals
    Frequency Range
    Importance
    Effect of Restoration
    50–200 Hz
    Adds warmth and fullness
    Restores body and resonance
    200 Hz–1 kHz
    Vocal clarity and timbre
Enhances natural voice and instrument tones
    1–5 kHz
    Presence and articulation
Improves vocal “edge” and attack on piano"

I also found this to be interesting.

    "Practical Considerations

Restoration is a balancing act; too much boost in any range can introduce noise or unnaturality.

Analogue equalizers and cautious digital EQs are well suited to restore missing lows and midrange.

AI spectral recovery tools focus mainly on boosting upper frequencies and “filling in” missing detail but cannot authentically recreate absent low-end.

Listening carefully and comparing before-and-after versions remains the best guide.
Your focus on naturalness and historical authenticity aligns perfectly with this frequency approach: restoring warmth and clarity without over-processing the treble region is key."

  5. Younger me was journaling some stuff:

A pattern inside a frequency. A weak signal in eternity. We are a song in the static of eternity, or perhaps just beautiful noise.

  6. SpaceX’s Starshield satellites are reportedly transmitting signals on unauthorized frequencies

SpaceX may be violating international telecommunication standards by allowing its Starshield satellites to transmit to Earth on frequencies…

  7. @funkylab @gnuradio @bkuhn @Crofton I'm programming my #HT and polishing up my keynote about my journey to and through #hamradio & what I see is the hobby's necessarily #diverse and #equitable future at #GRCon25. What are some meeting up #frequencies/#repeaters in the #everett #seatac area?

  8. 🌟 Your vibrational frequency shapes everything. Your thoughts, emotions, and energy emit a signal—what you attract mirrors that vibe. Raise your frequency, and you raise your life.

  9. Oh and by the way, #radioastronomers, they are coming for your #frequencies too so pay close attention and fight.

  10. We need to fight and stop the #fcc from selling off the "valuable #realestate"--our #amateurradio #frequencies--to the highest bidders!

  11. A day of learning #meshtastic and having good fun reading the stats, mqqt possibilities, and digital mapping, I'm just wondering if meshtastic is the #5g of #APRS

Still, getting an applied understanding of #radio #frequencies #rf is eye opening. Lots more to learn :)

  12. The Trouble with Trebles

umbú asks "How can I translate my hearing test results to a music player's graphic equalizer so that I can boost certain frequencies to match how a recorded music track is meant to sound?" and flug replies, "Hmm, just by complete chance I've spent the past several days messing around with just exactly this ... and the end result is, my $20 or $40 headphones end up sounding as good as $200 or $400 models." Tons of great info here!

  13. Anyone who knows me knows I’m slightly obsessed with radio — I’ve been using the sounds of radio in my music since the early ‘90s — so it’s always great to visit BBC Broadcasting House and behold the iconic white lattice radio tower. The tower is more symbolic than functional although apparently it can be used for experimental broadcasts over a short distance.

  14. 🚨 New preprint 🚨
"Does corpus size influence normalised frequencies?"

    doi.org/10.31219/osf.io/tr8de

It may sound like a silly question, but many #corpus linguistic measures are influenced by corpus size. So we asked ourselves: Does this also hold for normalised #frequencies, a measure that is meant to correct raw frequencies for the size of the underlying corpus?

We approached this by checking the association between lists of normalised frequencies for samples of different sizes.
