S1 of #mortel was a satisfying watch. The best thing about it for me was the (I thought) excellent writing and acting developing the relationship between the two main boys, Victor and Sofiane. A lot of other good things to say about it:
- Gorgeous #cinematography with a clear, relevant visual theme
- Surprising and (usually) kind twists and turns developing the initially unpleasant characters--very few or no actual villains, despite lots of actions hurting others
- Tangled webs of lies & conflicting motivations didn't seem contrived
- Tangled webs, jarring juxtapositions of action and experiences reflected in (IMO) very effective parallel film sequences
- Excellent musical choices
IMO the "teenagers" being clearly 20something actors wasn't difficult to swallow.

ooh. I highly, highly, HIGHLY recommend the original French series this is based on: The Bureau (original title: Le bureau des légendes)
[Unfortunately, at the moment it's only maybe on Fandango, Apple TV, AMC, Plex?... so that's probably a non-starter]
But The Bureau is far and away the best show of its type I have maybe ever seen. Hands down.
If you get a chance to see it... do.
I was *really* looking forward to this American remake, but from the reviews I've read, now... I'm not sure.
