Someone in Graz, Austria tried to kill a plot of Japanese knotweed with herbicide, but of course, it's not cooperating...
Japanese knotweed (Polygonum cuspidatum / Reynoutria japonica) is an invasive weed, but it's roots also formed the basis of the Asian remedy kojo-kon, used to treat, among other things, athlete's foot due to the resveratrol it contains.
The same compound is found in red wine to varying amounts - work my father, Le Creasy helped elucidate in the 90s #FrenchParadox
