#Unciv was more challenging, had more non-free files, but the number was OK (<50). Many sounds under proprietary Pixabay License. It turned out Pixabay just took CC0 sounds from #Freesound.org and slapped their license on it. 🙄 The fix was trivial: Just replace the credit link and license name.
A few sounds were -NC so those had to be recreated or replaced. I helped with that.
Then, many files were just undocumented so we had to ask through the community. -
@unfa The main goal for the UPF to create #freesound was to have a shared corpus to train and validate algorithms for scientific research. I worked there at that time. Nowadays research has turned IA and IA a business. it's hard to define a boundary. Beyond licensing, if IA would care about licensing at all.
Also once you opt-in to it is hard to tell all the algorithms, now you forget about that. Like licensing code as open source, once it is released, it is released.

I am extremely disappointed with Freesound's AI policy so far...
They auto-opt in all creators to allow their sounds to be used for training generative machine learning models....
Without a way to opt-out.

Just wanted to upload a bunch of high-quality sound effects to #Freesound but they use all uploads for GenAI training ?!! There's no way to disable this, just choose the “lesser” evil. I am so fucking exhausted, really. 😩

One of the things I absolutely cannot stand about myself is the voice. However I'm trying to overcome it and record myself either by reading, talking more or making vocal fx to upload on #patreon or #freesound - similar to how I did for Halloween.
So if you like to hear me saying short sentences or be creative with sound effects, just leave a comment with a suggestion.

@video_play needed some fake vintage terminal bleeps for his video. So I created an audio for him, similar to the sound used in "War Games". It still needs to be layered with a printer sound, but I published it on freesound.org anyway. I'm pleasantly surprised that my first contribution to this great project has already been downloaded a few times 🙂.

i would like to give a shout-out. to user "freesound/looplicator". for doing really weird loops. sometimes repetitive, sometimes arcane. reminds me of efforts by cognition audioworks. put out with computer music magazine cover disc. almost 20 years ago. i've been using them in my music this year. #freesound #electronicmusic

As I uploaded my most recent sound to Freesound.org, I noticed that my account there has turned 20 which is my oldest account on anything by a few years. As of today I've uploaded 4215 sounds, recordings, and noises, which works out to around 1 sound every 2 days. I'm really grateful for all the feedback I've had over the years.
