@futurebird a few years ago @mlemweb led an interview of authors of a python library for cross stitch patterns on the #fossandcrafts podcast
Perhaps they have a method for printing out the patterns like you want
Also, perhaps the #FreeSoftWear community has suggestions
I think there's a #HackAndCraft call going on right now

@xgebi I don't know of a marketplace, but I can recommend at least one indie designer and a couple other hopefully useful websites
the one indie designer I've bought (and actually sewn¹ :D ) more pattern from is scroop patterns / the dreamstress, who is not in the US (she's in NZ), and sells directly from her site

of course that's just a handful of specific looksThere is another indie I've bought something from, Liz Haywood from AU, but she sells via etsy. :(
Then there is freesewing.org/ (free as in #freeSoftWear) that aren't traditional patterns, but made-to-measure ones and work in a bit of a different way. They have published freesewing.org/blog/us-and-eu/ on the topic of getting away from the US, and are here on the fediverse.
And lastly I follow a blog (the author is in the UK) that does reviews of free patterns: many are from the websites of indie designers (other from bigger sites) and may be a good source for additional sources of patterns.
¹ they aren't a lot because I enjoy drafting my own patterns

Venerdì è stata una giornata no, con continui fallimenti nel cercare di rifinire i margini dei dietro con lo sbieco, quindi ho messo tutto da parte e mi son dimenticata dei jeans per tutto il weekend.
Ieri sono bene o male riuscita a rifinire i margini e ho cucito i davanti ai dietro, cominciando ad avere qualcosa a forma di pantalone.
E stamattina ho fatto gli orli, attaccato uno dei cinturini (quello sagomato: sewing-patterns.trueelena.org/… ) e iniziato la prima cucitura dell'altro.
Inizio a vedere la fine :)

Friday was a bit of a mess, with some failures while binding the raw edges of the backs, so I postponed them and forgot about the jeans for the weekend.
Yesterday I sort of managed to bind the edges (well enough) and I sewed the front and backs together, so that they started to actually look like trousers.
And this morning I've done the hems, attached one of the waistbands (the shaped one: sewing-patterns.trueelena.org/… ) and started the first seam on the other one.
I'm starting to see the end of this project :)

Some of you may remember that last year I have been #handsewing a shirt in red wool, but by the time I've mostly¹ finished it it was already too warm to be able to wear it significantly.
At least, the Sensible Season seems to have started, and I can wear it!
There will be a blog post. At some unknown time in the future.
¹ it does need a few detachable collar and cuffs variants, to style it a bit differently, but those don't prevent me from wearing the shirt as is.

the npm package is 'freesewing-baby' and it's published at https://github.com/raphaelsiz/freesewing-baby as an alpha release. this is because it *seems* like it should work so far, but I need to test actual garments.

Aaaaand I've published another #FreeSoftWear pattern that has been in the almost-ready limbo for a few months.
The finished object picture is from a different item (made in a lighter gray) than the one in the step-by-step pictures, but I've kept the latter a bit overexposed to see the details, so it doesn't really show (also, my camera did odd things with the colour balance, which varies a bit between shots) :D
One day I will learn how to draw proper pattern drawings, but today's not the day.
I still have things in the backlog, but they all require a bit more work than these two.

And after sitting on it for something like two months I've published the pattern for my modern (it uses fancy stitches that weren't easily available on victorian age sewing machines such as zig-zag :D ) / vintage (it's based on something from when I was a child :D) nightgown.
It's still missing a worn finished object picture, but it's too cold to take it right now, and if I wait for them I will forget about publishing the pattern, so I'll add it later, hopefully in the spring.

Yesterday we went for a walk and @diegor took a few pictures of the flannel shirt I've just finished (and I forgot to button it up completely before the pictures were taken, uoooops)

On a more serious note: I still have to edit a few step-by-step pictures and write an introduction, and then the pattern for those jeans will be ready for publishing.
And I've also started to cut the fabric for the nightgown, AND wrote the instructions I plan to follow while sewing it, so that I can take pictures and then publish also that pattern.
The yoke part will have a lot of “and then magic happens” however, as I have no idea how to write a crochet pattern.

because when I cut that pair, I cut one of the legs wrong, and it's shorter than the other one :( (they are fine for wearing, since they aren't visible anyway)
