  1. A follow-up article from Jessica Washington at @theintercept illuminates the blatant 1st Amendment violations and cynical allegations made by the Oregon Department of Corrections against Malik that resulted in their secretive transfer to South Carolina.

Of note is how the prison flagged Malik's criticism of the state of Israel in its misconduct report, showing how ODOC punishes political speech inside.

  2. Black August: “What Will You Do?”

As Black August approaches, I am reminded of the sacrifices of our revolutionaries, and our duty. To fight AND to win, as Assata said. The fascist police states repression is intensifying steadily. The violence of the military industrial complex spreads round the world threatening WW3 daily. The climate disaster we stare down daily is fueled by capitalists’ insatiable greed and need for "more.” What that “more” is I couldn't say. The prison industrial complex warehouses black and brown poor people in a slow genocidal death march as the arm expands to immigration warehousing. These telecom and prison services companies exploit our people, squeezing every last dime from us, as they take our lives in here too.

So what DO we do? We do our duty. "It is our duty to fight AND our duty to WIN!" That's what Assata reminds us to do: fight and win. [...]

  3. New piece from @TheIntercept on Malik's situation:

"An Incarcerated BLM Protester Lost in the Prison System"

They Were Serving the Longest Federal Sentence of Any 2020 BLM Protester. Then They Vanished in Prison.

Malik Muhammad’s attorney believes they were transferred for helping other incarcerated people advocate for their legal rights.

  4. “In order to break free, one must be acutely aware of being a slave”

There’s a pattern here: for the last 3 years Ramadan, I’m targeted. I’m snatched from mainline and taken to the hole under “Investigation”. I’m hit with some bogus “Unauthorized Organization” and I’m locked away in the hole for the rest of the year. It’s often that those targeted in prison, those considered activists or revolutionaries are sent to the hole, not for something they’ve done, but for what the administration thinks we MIGHT do. For them, it’s better to be preemptive. Not unlike the U.S. and Israel’s “preemptive” strikes on Iran. It’s just a cover for doing what they want anyways.

For 3 years, I’ve been dealing with this, now I’m here again, spend my Ramadan in the hole again due to nothing more than white fragility. The white male ego. Hurt at the notion that not only do I not like or respect the fascist state, [...]

  6. In the wake of a call-in campaign to get Malik out of solitary confinement (once again), something even more alarming happened. On Monday March 30th, 2026, a member of Malik’s support team realized they disappeared from the prison messaging app GettingOut. Similarly the inmate search database for the state of Oregon showed no record of them.

Family and friends have been frantically calling Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution (EOCI) and various contact numbers for Oregon Department of Corrections (ODOC). State representatives were very reluctant to provide any information, though one in the Office of Population Management stated that Malik was moved to a “confidential location” but refused to specify where or for what reason.

Prisoners do not simply disappear from state records; they do not disappear from a state prison with no documentation about a transfer or their current whereabouts.

As of this moment, after dozens and dozens of phone calls, we have no idea where Malik is located. We have not been able to speak with them since they entered solitary confinement.

Nobody at the federal level with the Bureau of Prisons (BOP) has acknowledged they now have custody of Malik. They are just gone and nobody is saying a word.

We have plenty of experience with the long stretches where Malik has been cut off from loves ones, refused any communications while enduring the torture that is extensive time in the hole. We are aware of the power and cruelty exercised by the state on a regular basis. But this is entirely different; we are scared. We know nothing about Malik’s condition, location, current circumstances, or how / why ODOC has taken the extraordinary steps to block all access and information about our beloved friend.

We demand answers from, and consequences for, the individuals responsible.

Call ODOC. Call your congressional reps. Call your city council members. Talk to people you know in media. Refer to prior reporting in The Intercept about the exceptionally long solitary confinement Malik has suffered and the unconscionable level of isolation and secrecy happening.

Please help our dear friend; they deserve every bit of support we can offer.

  7. PHONE ZAP TO GET MALIK OUT OF SOLITARY

We are concerned community members from the Oregon area, asking for calls to Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution (EOCI). The prison has:

    • Thrown Malik Muhammad, a political prisoner from the 2020 uprising in solitary confinement.
    • It’s been days since they should have been released back to general population.
    • Restricted Malik’s communication access
    • Including access to their lawyer
    • Mail has slowed drastically

This comes after Malik was in solitary confinement at Snake River Correctional for over year, before suddenly transferring them to EOCI.

    Demands:

    • Release Malik back to Gen Pop immediately
    • Fully Restore Malik’s access to communication
    • Release all withheld mail
    • Restore access to the tablet/calls
    • Restore reliable access to Malik’s legal team.

    Saturday, March 21st 2026

    CALL AT: 12PM, 2PM, 4PM

    • David Pedro, EOCI Superintendent: *67541-278-3609
    • Jeana Jeffries, ODOC Recruitment Officer: *67-458-251-9137
    • Michael Reese, Director of Oregon Department of Corrections: *67-503-945-0927
    • Jessica Hale (Executive Assistant): *67-503-945-0978
    • Ryan Dwyer (Acting Inspector General): *67-503-945-0988

    Sample Script:

“Hello, I am a concerned community member of calling to express support for Malik Muhammad #23935744. We have recently learned that it has been days since they should have been released back to general population from solitary confinement. Not only that, that they were denied access to communication, including contact with their lawyer. This is abuse and it won’t be tolerated. The community demands that Malik is released back to general population immediately, and their access to communication is fully restored. This includes releasing all withheld mail, restoring access to the tablet, and reliable access to legal counsel.”

  8. PHONE ZAP FOR RAMADAN

Malik is asking for calls to be made into Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution due to the lack of quality food they are providing Muslim adults in custody for Ramadan!

The demand: Provide dignified standard food with meat that meets a daily calorie count suitable for adults!

    EOCI Chaplains and Faith-Based Services: (541) 278-3641 and (541) 278-3642

Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution General Line: (541) 276-0700

Michael Reese (Director of Oregon Department of Corrections): (503) 945-0927

    Jessica Hale (Executive Assistant): 503-945-0978

Ryan Dwyer (Acting Inspector General): 503-945-0988

“Hello, I’m calling on behalf of the Muslim adults in custody at Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution. I was extremely concerned to hear that since the start of Ramadan, they have been provided with delayed meals and food that is not suitable for adults, consisting of simply bread and cheese. Not only is this discrimination based on their religious practices, but it is extremely unhealthy and dangerous. I am contacting you to demand that the adults in custody practicing Ramadan at Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution are supported with standard food that meets the daily caloric intake required for adults, including meals with meat in them. Additionally, adults in custody have been retaliated against by the kitchen coordinators for complaining about the quality of food being provided. I am requesting that this retaliation ceases at once.”

  9. On Fedjacketing

Within the microcosm of society that is prison, people must be careful of the way they tread. Careful of their thoughts that become their words, careful of their words that become their actions, careful of their actions that become their habits, careful of their habits that become their character. Or so the saying goes. It’s a prudent way to live. In prison, it’s the only way.

So for example, claiming that someone is a rat, cop, fed, or sex offender isn’t taken lightly [in prison]. Nor should it. If someone hits the main line, and you know for a fact, 100%, that they ratted, you can give the time, date, and place, but you still have to produce paperwork for your claims. Any accusations as serious as that require empirical evidence.

Too often in prison, I’ve seen people get slapped as a bad dude simply because the most popular person with the most clout said so, and others just follow their lead. [...]

  10. Pal Action’s Hunger Strike

To everyone who took the time to call and demand my release from the hole these past two years, thank you. I want you to know that it worked. I know that it can be daunting, we can feel so powerless in the face of this repressive beast that is the state — but it’s only an illusion. What they want you to think. I’m out now and transferred and received mail, and that’s all thanks to you.

AND, at this time our siblings in the UK need that same energy times ten. Pal Action protesters have been held without bail as you know, and are facing intense repression under bogus terrorism charges. They need you all to put in the same energy calling and demanding for the release of their mail. The opposition hopes to keep our movements separate and fractured when nothing could be further from the truth. [...]

  11. Art Commissions by Malik!

Malik has spent the past year teaching themself how to draw from their cell, and with the opportunity for more art supplies at EOIC, they want to open up their skills for commissions!

Commissions will be donation-based, so if you have a photo you would like to see Malik draw, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Send us your photo(s) at [email protected], and we will help coordinate getting the photo to Malik and getting the drawing to you!

This is a great way to not only support Malik financially but as an artist. The only reference photos they have are ones that are sent to them, so every photo is an opportunity to draw something new!

  12. Malik has been transferred!

In surprising but welcome news, Malik was transferred to Eastern Oregon Correctional this morning. This brings them closer to their legal and support teams, but also means that they are out of segregation and are back in general population! This is a tremendous relief, as they now have fuller access to communications, mail, and possessions, as well as more opportunities for participating in activities and social engagements. If you would like to write to Malik, their updated address is:

    Malik Muhammad #23935744
    Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution
    2500 Westgate
    Pendleton, OR 97801-9699

Thank you to everyone who called in to SRCI on Malik’s behalf. This effort and concern made a big difference in pressuring the prison to transfer them! Their end-of-year commissary fundraiser is ongoing and can be found on Chuffed:

  13. "The News"

    What makes something "newsworthy?"

Is it shock value, like Trump going on a racist, xenophobic rant targeting Somalians? Despite the fact that this man has shown he’s blatantly racist. This is supposed to be shocking. To anyone paying attention, he’s a fucking racist. It is known. It’s been known. The fact that reporters can say that him saying racy things is “expected,” but outright racist and xenophobic is a surprise — on his initial run, he said Mexicans are rapists and drug dealers, like what? [...]

But the hundreds of Palestinians still murdered in a genocide draped in a “ceasefire,” they’re un-people, and the ceasefire is holding because those were un-bombs and not-bullets. Lebanon is bombed and invaded by the IOF under the ceasefire flag. Also not news, ’cause, you know, un-people. Syria, invaded, too, also un-people. The 83 people murdered by the US off Venezuela’s coast, only the conduct is news ’cause maybe or maybe not, Pete did a “double tap,” as Jesse Eisenberg would say. But the murders themselves and the flagrant violation of the UN charter that bans the threats of force and the use of force on any sovereign nation, unless approved by the UN, and in case it’s unclear, they did not approve this threat and use of force against Venezuela — this is not news. 14. Support Malik with Funds!

    chuffed.org/project/157063-fre

Malik Muhammad is a Black/Palestinian direct actionist, radical anarchist, anti-fascist and father, as well as a writer, poet, and musician who is dedicated to liberation.

During the George Floyd uprising, they traveled the country organizing and fighting, and were ultimately kidnapped, ransomed, and held hostage by the state of Oregon, where they have been unjustly held captive on a ten-year sentence, the longest of any political prisoner from the 2020 uprisings.

This fundraiser will provide ongoing financial support to Malik in prison to cover the cost of their commissary, phone calls, stamps, books, as well as travel for lawyers, family members and siblings (comrades) to visit them.

  15. Getting back to “normal”

Normal was traffic stops turned fatal
    Arrest warrants served with halos
poverty job seeking surviving at minimum rates
    certainly not living.
    No time.

    Normalcy was
    four year degrees
    with nothing to show
    but hopes and dreams.
    Perhaps a pretty plaque.

    Normalcy was
    immigrant fear mongering
    demonizing
    categorizing as “enemies within.”

    Normal was
    presidential bail outs and
pardons for the rich and wealthy.

    Normal-see — was
    bombing overseas
proxy wars with government funding autocracy
    fascist police in city streets
    militarized humanity perceived as enemies.
    Rising cost of food
    scarcity
    unaffordable housing
    inadequate government aid
    moving the retirement age
    working into the grave
    numbered
    statisticized
    cradle to the grave
    wage slaves.
    A fate worse than death.
    Mass incarceration rates
    as high as 3.15
    repeating.
    The “American dream,” scheme
    that pie in the sky
    a pipe dream
    the smoke
    blowin’ up your own ass.
Like tryna to stop a heart attack.

    You wanna
    “get back”
    to
    “normalcy?”
    See: normal.

  16. ICE in Portland

There actually are lawless criminals fucking up the streets of Portland and destabilizing communities across the nation. They go by the name of DHS, ICE, Border Patrol, and the fascist jack boots employed as the National Guard. And this is abhorrent. The pigs in 2020 protected Proud Boys and other fascists assaulting Portlanders in these city streets. The pigs worked with DHS in assaulting and kidnapping Portlanders in these city streets. Tear gas cakes the residential neighborhoods and family homes, courtesy of the Portland Police Bureau. All this under the guise of protecting the public. Protecting the public from “violent rioters,” they say. Anarchists and criminals terrorizing the community, they say.

Yet, it’s 2025, the fascist autocrat deployed DHS, ICE, and the National Guard to come and terrorize Portlanders. [...]

  17. Update from the hole

I’ve broken down Oregon’s hole abuses before and documented their violations many times, as yet another year passes, another winter spent in segregation. Actually, spring, summer, fall, and now, winter again. Spent in the most freezing cells, no phone access, and mail obstructions with no mail violation notices.

I’m bound to this freezing cell they keep AC blowing in, day and night, despite it being winter. It’s the exact circumstances as last year in the hole. I’ve been in segregation for two years, with barely a month between. SRCI, OSP, same hole, same SHU, same abuse. These hole practices are heinous, barbaric, archaic, harsh, punitive, unjustified, and ineffective in achieving any semblance of “rehabilitation.” [...]

  18. MAIL REPORT BACK AND CALL-IN

Malik has been in solitary confinement since the end of February, with their release date continuing to be pushed back for arbitrary reasons. On top of this, Malik is experiencing restrictions to their communications, and interference from the prison with their mail.

    Malik requests your info!

Are you experiencing issues with letters being returned? Have you been expecting letters from Malik, but haven’t gotten any? When you do get them, are they significantly delayed? Any info you have about your experience sending letters to Malik is helpful and appreciated! Your input allows us to know how much interference the prison is having with Malik’s mail.

Please fill out this Cryptpad form with any information you may have. Thank you!

Put pressure on Snake River Correctional!

Additionally, Malik is requesting that people call in to put pressure on Snake River to deliver their mail. Any calls that you are able to make lets the mailroom know that they are not getting away with interfering with Malik’s mail, that we are noticing and care.

Call (541) 881-5046 and ask to speak to someone in the mail room. Be polite but firm, and let them know that Malik has not been receiving their mail. Ask questions about why this might be, and if there is anything that can be done to get Malik’s mail to them. Feel free to report back to here or on instagram @freemaliknow, and thank you in advance for your time & care!

  19. "After Assata"

Assata said, “I’m tired of bulletins. I want bullets.”
Assata said, “Tears fallen and bodies dropped, blood shed. Fuck the high road. When they go low, instead, knee ’em in the face, sprawl lower. Take their back, wrap the neck, fuck a tap out, listen for the snap. Put your ballot in the barrel of the gun, overnight express, direct action shipping. Paint the city streets with the bodies of little piggies, spelling, ‘I can’t breathe’ and say, ‘Look, see, told you stop resisting. Didn’t listen, your body’s glistening, lilac over your velvet blues, families, confused, thinking, ‘why him?’ like they’re better than you. Well, better them than you. Let a piggy disrespect, and I’ll gladly shoot. Fascist ain’t bulletproof. To protect and serve ’em up, like fried bacon, crispy.”
None for me, though, that swine’s haram.
Burnt piggies only entice me when I light a message in a bottle and make ’em catch it like a hollow, burning through like zombie tips.
Painting, blue pigs, orange and red, like the sweetest sunset, the best the man can get, close to what the Creator projects at dawn.
    Back to where I begun.
    Where it all came from.
I’m tired of running from bullets and later posting bulletins, like Assata said, “I want — “

  23. Queer/Trans Liberation

To be is to become. Change is the only constant in life, in love, in the evolution of humanity and all species. It is inevitable. Fighting against change is counterproductive; molding or shaping change is only logical. To explore, to endeavor to find humanity’s potentialities is the objective of humans — finding limits and constructed barriers of the species and pushing past them, both as individuals and a collective. To break free. Of course, not without consideration for lesser conscious and capable species, but as a role explicitly with that in mind. As Uncle Ben told Peter, “With great power comes great responsibility.” And we bear a responsibility to our planet and the ecosystems here to maintain their considerations.

Humanity is one species. Gender, race, sexuality are all constructed. [...]

  24. Tyrants and Collaborators

I don’t understand the lack of urgency in this genocide. Countries are careful not to be “too quick” to call it a genocide. War crimes, “sure,” they say, breaches of international laws, “yeah, maybe,” but genocide, they won’t say. Perhaps because that would mean they HAVE to act. And act in a substantive manner. Currently, the best they can do is recognize Palestinian statehood. Years late, as 150 countries already do, but France is the first “influential” one? It’s insane that unless countries say, “I see you,” to recognize your suffering, then you pretty much don’t exist. No country has recognized the human rights abuses of Blacks. Yet it persists. [...]

    Theory/Study books

"Trans Femme Futures", Nat Raha, Mijke van Der Drift

So this is my #1 2025 hole time book recommendation. This book is immaculately written and researched. It focuses on trans/queer abolitionist thinking, theorizing, and worldmaking together. It redefines femme and understanding transness and queerness less about identity and seeking inclusion or visibility, but rather why we do what we do. I love that the authors relate the struggle to the whole because yes, trans liberation is liberation for all (something that will be a theme in all of my top 3 recommendations). The book highlights care work in our movements. I truly believe everyone could get a lot from this book. I myself was blown away by a great deal, and this book has prompted me to write an essay. Usually I have others to participate with me, but since I don’t, I’m calling on those of you out there to get together in your cohorts, do 100 of something everyday with me for the month of August, and tell me how its going for you. Burpees, push-ups, sit-ups, a mile run/walk, 100 of some exercise for 31 days with me, that’d be rad! The key is unity, solidarity, so try to do them at least with one other person. You can split things up and make 100 squats into 50, plus its more fun together, and that’s what its about, what we can do together!
