  1. First Friday Events in Raleigh, Durham and Cary August 7th Edition

    The Triangle is kicking off the weekend with outdoor movies, live music, art experiences, food trucks and family-friendly activities on Friday, August 7, 2026.

    Downtown Raleigh hosts the region’s traditional First Friday celebration, while Durham and Cary offer their own Friday-night experiences. Here are some of the best events happening across the Triangle.

    First Friday Events in Raleigh

    First Friday Market and Movie: Zootopia 2

    Time: 5–9 p.m.
    Location: Moore Square, Raleigh
    Cost: Free

    Bring a blanket or lawn chair to Moore Square for an evening featuring local vendors, food trucks, live music and an outdoor showing of Zootopia 2. The market opens at 5 p.m., live music begins at 5:30 p.m. and the movie is scheduled to start around 7:15 p.m. View event details⁠.


    First Friday Ice Cream Social

    Time: 5:30–8 p.m.
    Location: Pope House Museum, Raleigh
    Cost: Free

    Meet neighbors, learn more about the Pope family and enjoy free ice cream at this community gathering. The event will also include information about plans involving the Pope House Museum, South Park Heritage Trail and John P. “Top” Greene African American Cultural Center. View event details⁠.


    First Friday With the NC Courage

    Time: 6–9 p.m.
    Location: City of Raleigh Museum
    Cost: Free

    Explore Downtown Raleigh’s Art Scene

    First Friday Raleigh is a free, self-guided celebration of art, culture, food and local businesses. Participating galleries, museums, studios and alternative venues establish their own hours, but most activities take place between 6 and 9 p.m. Visitors can explore downtown exhibits while stopping at nearby restaurants and bars throughout the evening.


    Friday Events in Durham

    Durham’s primary downtown art walk is traditionally held on the third Friday of the month, but the Bull City still has several creative First Friday experiences scheduled for August 7.

    PLAYlist Concert Series: Some of It All

    Time: Evening activities begin at 6:30 p.m.
    Location: Durham Central Park, 501 Foster Street

    Durham Central Park and WNCU 90.7 FM continue the PLAYlist Concert Series with Some of It All. Food and drinks open at 6:30 p.m., DJ Travis Gales begins at 7 p.m. and the band takes the stage at approximately 7:30 p.m. A dance party follows the performance. View event details⁠.

    Hot Metal Cold Beer

    Time: 6–9 p.m.
    Location: The Glass Jug Downtown, 545 Foster Street
    Admission: $85

    This interactive foundry experience combines art, metal casting and a Friday happy hour. Participants will design a bronze medallion, watch a live metal pour and browse a pop-up market featuring Liberty Arts artists. Admission includes the hands-on project and a drink token.     Indelible: Tattooed Ceramics Opening Reception

    Time: 7–9 p.m.
    Location: Claymakers Gallery, Durham

    Claymakers Gallery opens Indelible: Tattooed Ceramics, an exhibition exploring the connection between tattoo imagery and ceramic artwork. The exhibition is scheduled to remain on display through September 25.


    Friday Events in Cary

    Cary’s official art crawl is known as Final Friday and will return on August 28. However, Cary has two major outdoor events planned for August 7.

    Bands, Bites and Boats
