A cafe near where I'm staying is closing down permanently. The *landlord* who owns the building they operate out of demanded rent payments continue as normal, regardless of the COVID-19 lockdown. Yet another example of how capitalism doesn't work for small-to-medium enterprises either. Turns out #AdamSmith was as wrong about the rentier class withering away in the face of #FreeEnterprise as #FriedrichEngels was about the state withering away after a socialist revolution.
