In this Dharma talk, I’ll share why Zen is not an escape from the world—but the foundation for true clarity, compassion, and action.
Zen Master Sebastian Rizzon will guide a short meditation, tell the story of my own stroke and recovery, and share one of Zen’s most powerful koans about karma and awakening: Baizhang and the Fox.

Among all U.S. adults, 29% are nones — those who identify as atheist, agnostic or “nothing in particular” — according a 2021 report by the Pew Research Center. That’s up 10 percentage points from a decade earlier. And the younger the adults, the more likely they are to be unaffiliated, according to a 2019 Pew analysis, further signaling the growing clout of the nones.
