(3Sat, Wh.)

  4. If you don't have TCM, a number of Fred MacMurray films are on free streamers.

I recommend REMEMBER THE NIGHT (1940) w/ Barbara Stanwyck on Plex and THE LADY IS WILLING (1942) w/ Marlene Dietrich on Tubi — both directed by Mitchell Leisen.

MacMurray’s charm and effortless ease w/ both comedy and drama is on full display.

  5. Happy Anniversary to DOUBLE INDEMNITY, which premiered on this day 80 years ago.

The quintessential Film Noir in my eyes. It’s a perfect movie! Stellar writing. Stellar casting. Stellar Acting.

Barbara Stanwyck is just …. <3

  7. 3 things about Douglas Sirk’s THERE’S ALWAYS TOMORROW [1956]

    1. Fred standing alone in the rain, as cars zoom past and honk at him to get out of the way.
    2. Shadows on her face of the raindrops on the windowpane. Several years before In Cold Blood.
    3. Marion never apologizes, never seems to have the first clue about what’s going on.
