It's not an audit. An audit is a defined process that adheres to standards established either by a professional practice organization or by regulation. I'm glad, at least, that New York Magazine's Intelligencer added the word "circus."

This is a privately funded political exercise initiated by the Arizona Senate without meaningful oversight. There is an expression that describes it, the first part of which is cluster. Please employ a  phrase that includes the words partisan and cluster, but excludes audit.

The real story:

Trump’s political PAC raised about $75 million in the first half of this year, using his false claims that the election was stolen to motivate donors, but has given no money to finance the Arizona ballot review.

Trump uses his lie to make money from it. It's both a scam to cast doubt on future elections and a grift. #Fraudit

@MJ The best thing Kyrsten Sinema has done is prove that Arizona could elect a Democrat statewide. Two years later, Arizona elected Mark Kelly. He's up for reelection to the seat for a full term in 2022, when he'll win. Then we'll have three consecutive statewide wins for Democrats, and I hope a Democratic governor too since Arizonans must be sick of this #fraudit sham. This isn't journalism. A news outlet can't pay for an audit and have exclusive rights to report on it.

Fortunately, actual news outlets are able to let us know about the #Fraudit.

The WaPo even tagged it "lifestyle," showing OAN and its reporter just the amount of condescension it deserves.

I'd never seen a single second of OAN before, but I did click on the clip embedded in the article (which does not give OAN any hits as it's hosted on another site) and it was worth seeing just how biased their reporting is, even when it's explaining something that's seemingly objective such as the colors of shirts in the arena.

Republican fantasies about election fraud presume dozens, hundreds or even thousands of people committing felonies in multiple states. Yet no one has stepped forward to say "I want leniency for my testimony." No one has said, "They asked me to be part of it but I refused." No one has said, "The elections office says I voted, but I didn't." 

And the imagined conspiracy goes further. Public polling generally agreed with the outcome. That means all the polling companies rigged their calculations to match how the election was being rigged? And yet no one has said, "They told me what the poll is supposed to say so I made it come out that way." Someone with that story could make a lot of money selling it to Hollywood.
