Max #Frankel, Träger des Pulitzerpreises und ehemaliger Chefredakteur der #NewYorkTimes, ist kurz vor seinem 95. Geburtstag gestorben.
Geboren 1930 in meiner Heimatstadt #Gera, verbrachte er seine Kindheit in #Weißenfels im heutigen Sachsen-Anhalt, bevor die jüdische Familie (die damals noch Fränkel hieß) in die USA emigrieren musste.
Vor Jahren habe ich den deutschsprachigen #Wikipedia-Artikel über ihn angelegt.

Just for context: This Injunction isn't a ruling on the case, only that the plaintiff would suffer irreparable harm if it were not enacted while the case is adjudicated, that the legal arguments for the defense would not ameliorate the free exercise clause and so doesn't require continued enforcement during adjudication, and so the balance of inequities tips towards the plaintiffs.
To be clear... UCLA's defense is that they had to help keep Jews out in order to prevent violence from escalating out of control. Which is a REALLY bad argument, especially if they get a ruling that says this is true. Only phyrric victory is available.
