UN Special Rapporteur on the occupied Palestinian territories Francesca Albanese rejected accusations of anti-semitism as “shameful and defamatory” in an interview with FRANCE 24. She warned that Israel’s “plan to fully destroy Gaza continues” and denounced escalating Israeli measures in the occupied West Bank, where soldiers and settlers are “spreading terror.” Albanese described recent Israeli actions to strengthen control over the occupied West Bank—including land acquisitions and seizures of Palestinian Authority areas—as “absolutely worrisome” and “illegal,” highlighting Israel's limitless conquest ambitions.Albanese also denied claims that she had labeled Israel “the enemy of humanity,” stating she has never made such a statement. She spoke about the personal consequences of US sanctions imposed on her last year following her report on US companies’ involvement in Israeli actions in Gaza, noting that she is now unable to maintain a bank account and relies on her family for support.
“Isn’t this absurd,” she said, “to simply have exercised freedom of expression, freedom of speech in a context of evident and fully documented crimes that I have the responsibility, the obligation to report on?”
