Op 9 juli 2025 liet Donald Trump financiële sancties instellen tegen de special #UN rapporteur over de oPt (Occupied Palestinian Territories) Francesca Albanese (https://ofac.treasury.gov/recent-actions/20250709_33).

De oproep van de UN, één dag later (https://news.un.org/en/story/2025/07/1165359), mocht niet baten.

Afgelopen woensdag heeft een federale rechter in de #USA geoordeeld dat de opgelegde sancties niet rechtsgeldig zijn, waarmee deze voorlopig zijn opgeschort (https://ofac.treasury.gov/sanctions-programs-and-country-information/international-criminal-court-related-sanctions). Dat wil vast niet zeggen dat mevrouw Albanese snel weer een werkende bankpas heeft.

Of Trump in beroep kan gaan bij #SCOTUS (het US hooggerechtshof, met daarin veel door Trump aangestelde rechters), weet ik niet.

De USA, een aan genocide medeplichtige "bondgenoot" van Nederland: "echt" een "fijn" land om DigiD en andere essentiële ICT-systemen aan toe te vertrouwen.
