Krátce jsem zkoušel lokální #LLM modely na mém #frameworklaptop13 a docela zajímavě vypadá "přemýšlivý" qwen3.6:35b-a3b-q4_K_M, který na AMD Ryzen 5 AI 340 + 32GB RAM běží použitelně.

Tento model má redukovaný počet aktivních parametrů pro zpracování jednoho tokenu. Na první pohled, tak méně zatěžuje CPU/GPU a celý notebook méně hučí a topí. Podobně funguje i starší qwen3-coder:30b-a3b-q4_K_M, který "nepřemýšlí" takže odpověď dorazí rychleji.

Každopádně na tomto HW tyto modely generují výstup řádově v nižších desítkách (možná spíš jednotky) tokenů za sekundu. Měřeno pohledem oka. Použitelné to je, ale kdo to s lokálním LLM myslí opravdu vážně, brzy sáhne po něčem výkonnějším.

Yep, `sudo apt install firmware-amd-graphics` and rebooting fixed it. Also, two screens connected to my USB-C dock started working. (They've been somewhat unstable and would often only turn on after several reboots and shit.)

Also, apparently the system crashes during heavy GPU usage on the AMD Framework Laptop 13 seem to be gone. 🤞 Before, you had to add some kernel parameter as a workaround IIRC, which I never did.

Of course you shouldn't lift it at a dangerous acceleration, but I found that if it's fast enough so that the lid/screen is a bit more open than it was before (due to inertia) afterwards, there's a good chance that I produced a click. (_Please_ don't damage your screen hinges while trying this!)

I wouldn't say that it's an "issue", but it's certainly good to know :)

I'd love to hear from anyone who's able to reproduce this with their own device!

So I don't know why but on my #Frameworklaptop13 the default microphone is EXTREMELY loud

I have a videoconference today so I tried to configure this earlier... the default mic volume is showing all the electrical zap sounds, and my test mic almost just became a vineboom

Had to turn volume down all the way to 25%... and it's still quite loud, just no zapping sounds anymore

Not sure if this is an issue with Debian, with KDE, or is it with Framework

So far #Frameworklaptop13 is going well. I plan to migrate my files from the Steam Deck and my old Gentoo rig to the new thing over the weekend... afterwards it will likely end up being my daily driver

Guess my only gripe so far was that I should have ordered the red or the default bezel. The purple color on my bezel was so light that I can barely tell a difference

Aaaannd being a devoted Linux user, the first thing I did was to configure kwin and change system theme after installing 🤦‍♂️ I assure the virtual workspaces + tiling are working as intended and I promise the sweet theme + background is really pretty!

On that note: curious if anyone has drawn an abstract anime girl or something using say a sweet theme or dracula theme. That'd be the most meme Linux user thing ever
