Comecei a ficar incomodado com o #Adobe #Acrobat no #Android. É um programa pessimamente otimizado para #tablets, mesmo vindo da empresa que desenvolveu o formato PDF. Chega a ser irônico, mas apelei para o #Foxit e a diferença entre a interface dele e do Acrobat é um abismo. Espero que, com as novas diretrizes do Google, mais e mais programas comecem a trabalhar com responsividade progressiva, indo desde interfaces para smartphones de entrada com tela pequena, até interfaces maiores para uso em modo desktop.

A falta de convergência no Android contrasta brutalmente com o hardware oferecido por empresas como a #Samsung. Meu Tab 10 FE 10+ tem tela de 13 polegadas, mas nitidamente depende dos malabarismos da Samsung para oferecer multitarefa razoável e suprir lacunas de usabilidade. O que a Samsung faz, malandramente, é admitir que os aplicativos de terceiros ainda podem entregar experiência de telefone, logo, ela estimula a execução de dois ou mais deles em janela.

Janelas se aproximam da experiência de um smartphone sem ofender tanto o usuário que está num tablet com tela grande. É um "vai que cola" da gigante sul-coreana.

Aktuell noch unter Win habe ich meine eingescannte Unterschrift mit gimp freigestellt, als transparentes png exportiert. Diese füge ich via Foxit PDF Reader (gibts auch für Linux, freemium, aber kein Opensource) via "Bildanmerkung"-sfunktion einem pdf zu.

Dieses png kann man z.B. auch in Textdokument wie .odt einfügen.

I've had a pdf printing issue with Thunderbird, Firefox, and Librewolf for some time and cursed my way through web pages looking for answers. I had come across the same issue many years ago and had found a value in 'settings' that I needed to change. Do you think I can recall or find that setting now? NO I couldn't. I deleted the 'saved' printing instructions but that made zero diff.

In the end, frustrated and tired of reading blogs and useless answers, I installed a free-to-use FoxIt (you need to look for it on their website) on my Win10 machine and made it the default pdf viewer. Works a treat, no issues at all.

I will slowly work to replace Firefox (the traitors) with LibreWolf as well.

Thunderbird still does the job so it's safe for now (they better not try to integrate AI (like FoxIt has - though it up to the user to use it or not).

All three were set to #rotate and #deskew. None rotated the page that was sideways, but they all #deskewed pages that needed it. Kofax was the speediest of the bunch, then #OCRmyPDF not far behind and #Foxit was by far the slowest.

File size Foxit produced the smallest file size, #Kofax created files double the original. OCRmyPDF struggled here, ballooning the original size by at least 6 times larger.

I got to do a fun test at work with #OCR. #Foxit Phantom with AbbyFineReader from 2013, #Kofax Power PDF from 2020 and #OCRmyPDF via #WSL with #Tesseract as the OCR engine.

The best results in OCR were from OCRmyPDF great results. Second was Kofax lagging was the over 10-year-old Foxit. OCRmyPDF did perform great and just picked up a few more characters, especially fuzzy scanned text, plus it got some handwritten text.

Stavo cercando un lettore #PDF portatile per il mio PC da gioco (#Windows), #Foxit sembra piuttosto usato, quindi sono andato a cercarlo in rete.
So che le versioni portatili contengono tutte le librerie e tutti i file necessari, ma 452 Mb!! Come è possibile?

Così ho scaricato #SumatraPDF che pesa solo 15 Mb, è un solo eseguibile e basta.
L'ho già installato sul mio notebook del lavoro ed è un buon lettore PDF che fa il suo dovere: aprire i file pdf.

I switched around a year ago from #Adobe #Acrobat to #Foxit Pro as my #PDF editor. One-time pricing, waaaaay less bloat, quicker.

I assumed this would be a quick fix so waited it out for seven months. After more complaining, customer service provided the link to reinstall version 12. I'm happy. Version 12 works perfectly and predates the new Foxit moves to add "AI" features.
