  1. San Francisco Street Photographs, Late 1980s

These photographs are from several rolls of black and white 35mm film I shot on the San Francisco streets in the late 1980s.

(I think they were shot with the Pentax I owned back then. Someone stole it from a rental car in the mid-90s).

I moved these rolls of film around the country, from San Francisco to Boston, Boston to New York City, New York City to San Francisco, then back to New York City. After my last move, in 2008, I stashed them in an office drawer in a big Ziploc bag and promptly forgot about them.

Last week, I had digital scans made from the negatives (at Photo Life, on Nostrand Avenue ). I chose standard, not hi-res scans, because I had no idea what was on these rolls or what condition the film would be in after so many years of neglect.

I had to clean up the scans a little. Many of the images had a soft, almost milky haze over them, some rolls showed more wear than others, and some pictures are just very noisy. But I haven’t done a whole lot of editing or polishing. I’m still going through them and trying to decide whether I want to try making some prints of these 40-year-old images.

  2. Weird found images.

I bought some 'refurbished' SD cards from ebay for my ESP32 Cams.

It turns out the they hadn't been wiped, and contain images from around the world.

This one was taken in 2019 in the
"Black Virgin" holiday park in Vietnam.

Very strange feeling to be just dropped into other people's lives.
