Yes! Fossil fuel industries, companies & workers in them can be part of solutions: a good reminder!: “we can use their expertise in offshore work for setting up offshore wind. And we can use their drilling + fracking expertise in geothermal drilling [without the chemicals] + water drilling as well. And there are workers already transferring to these other sectors of the economy. "Hope is that virtue by which we take responsibility for the future."”It could be so good to see these different choices taken & rewarded. Fossil fuel companies don’t have to be ‘the bad guys’. They have so much capacity to be good guys. Sometimes I think they receive terribly poor advice that artificially restricts & limits their options when they could be powering away in new industries that we’d love them to lead.

If our govt keeps on subsidising #extractiveIndustries and more specifically #FossilFuelIndustries until the latter are driven out of business (being hopeful here) by renewables, how are we going to finance the clean up they’ve left behind?
1) end exractive industries subsidies (esp Fossil Fuels)
2) increase the PRRT to something meaningful like 80% (a la Denmark)

So this is where we’re at. Ever increasing energy prices because of two related things. 1) the way energy pricing is determined (a fool’s market for the punters) and 2) tying the cost of domestic gas to world market prices (a #Grifter’s paradise if there ever was one, why wouldn’t they love it?)
If you don’t like where this is going - email/write to your politicians and express your indignation and threaten to vote for someone who’ll listen and do s’thing about it.
Local Council, State and Territories, and of course federal elections, make your vote count for what you want from govt not the BS you hear from them.

Who would’ve known? The Govt and bureaucrats receiving the AEP’s advice to keep/build Gas Peakers on the electricity grid to support the transition to ‘green energy’ certainly would have seen it coming. They’d have to have been blind and stupid not to. Hence, the conclusion has to be that govt support for continued fossil fuel use (in terms of ‘natural’ - being anything but - gas extraction and combustion) must be intentional and in keeping with the #GasLobby ‘s wishes. Not only is our #Labor govt purposefully inactive on the #ClimateAction and #Environmental left-wing agenda, it is actively funnelling #PublicFunds to #Grifting fossil fuels #Corporations which pay #NoTaxes and piddly #Royalties.
I’m not a conspiracy theory advocate, but this sure looks like #Corruption, #Collusion and #NestFethering activities if I’ve ever seen any.
All the while, any ‘new’ gas fields developed in Australia will be exported to fulfil contracted gas futures (which are then re-sold at a profit on the international market by #Japan - a lucrative business all round).

And I will keep doing so until the next election round where my vote will be informed by govt performance in this regard.
