"Nearly three decades after communities in the Ecuadorian Amazon first brought global attention to Chevron’s crimes, and 13 years after activists launched the first Anti-Chevron Day in 20 countries, the resistance continues. Chevron remains one of the most polluting companies on Earth – and one of the most determined to avoid accountability for it.

"For the 13th year running, Anti-Chevron Day brought frontline leaders from across the globe to the shadow of Chevron’s #RichmondCA refinery, where communities gathered with anger, grief, music, ceremony, and determination to confront one of the world’s most destructive oil companies.
"The gathering came just weeks after the historic First Conference on Transitioning Away from Fossil Fuels in Santa Marta, #Colombia, where Indigenous leaders and governments demanded an urgent and just transition away from the fossil fuel economy that continues to poison the territories and devastate the health of frontline communities worldwide. In Richmond, that demand felt immediate and deeply personal. It is being shaped by the people most directly harmed by extraction and pollution, and by movements building solidarity across borders.

"For over three decades, Chevron chose profit over people. While drilling in the Ecuadorian Amazon from 1964 to 1990, it deliberately dumped more than 16 billion gallons of #ToxicWastewater, spilled roughly 17 million gallons of #CrudeOil, and left #HazardousWaste in hundreds of open pits dug out of the forest floor."

Nicht nur die #Bioenergie-Branche übertreibt es anlässlich der Umsetzung des #EU-#Gaspaket:s, wenn sie sich aus Sorge um mangelnden Netzzugang komplett gegen die Stilllegung von #Gasnetzen wehrt: Das Stilllegen von #fossilFuels Kapazitäten muss auch in ihrem Sinne sein, sonst hat sie jegliche Glaubwürdigkeit als #Klimaschützer verloren!
Auch die #VerbraucherzentraleBundesverband @Bundesverband schießt hier etwas übers Ziel hinaus, wenn sie mindestens 10 Jahre Kündigungsfrist für Gasanschlüsse UND finanzielle Entschädigung bei Stilllegung funktionierender Gasheizungen fordert! Denn 1️⃣. wissen alle, die in den letzten 5-10a eine #Gasheizung eingebaut haben, dass #FossilesGas immer teurer wird, und haben sich im Zweifel bewusst und fahrlässig für die #klimaschädliche Option entschieden. 2️⃣. haben sich #Gasheizungen irgendwann wirtschaftlich abbezahlt, selbst wenn sie weiter funktionieren, und bis die Regeln greifen plus Kündiungsfrist, dürfte dies ganz überwiegend der Fall sein. Und 3️⃣. muss der Schutz vor fossilen Preissprüngen (alle Lehren aus der "Energiekrise" schon wieder vergessen?) im originären Interesse der #Verbraucherschützer liegen.
Komplett lost sind naturgemäß die Aussagen des #Gas-#Lobby-Verbands #DVGW, wenn der meint, es sei unklar, "nach welchen Kriterien eine „dauerhafte Verringerung der Erdgasnachfrage“ erwartet werden muss." Nein, das ist völlig klar: es geht einfach immer konstant nach unten, bis in sehr naher Zukunft keinerlei (fossiles) Gas mehr verbrannt werden darf! Lässt sich aus dem gültigen #KSG, #GEG, und untergesetzlichen Regeln wie der #BEW ableiten! Insofern kann der Lobbyverband eigentlich schonmal seine eigene Auflösungs-Strategie vorbereiten., kleiner Service-Tipp!
