The X-29, the most statically unstable aircraft ever built, was a U.S. forward-swept-wing technology demonstrator. It flew in 1984, pioneering advanced aeroelastic and flight control systems. Two prototypes were built for NASA/USAF/DARPA testing and are now on display.
