What is the proper term for the tower on this castle wall? This is at the Castle of the Moors in Sintra, Portugal. If I understand the terms, close up we see a wall walk, with a battlement to the left, with a parapet (the wall) that has embrasures (the gaps) that make it crenellated. Then there are steps leading to a square tower.

Is there a special term for it? Can turrets be square?
