One way you know most of the Canadian media is utterly failing at impartial journalism…

In all the reports about the separatist petition, they only mention that the separatists reached their goal, while never mentioning that the #ForeverCanadian petition, which had less time and no deep pocketed corporate sponsorship, far exceeded those numbers.

Journalists need to set the stage and provide information in context or else they are completely useless at their jobs.

I'd much rather be sharing stuff about birds but alas, I live in Alberta.

If you're in Alberta, I came across an email template to send to Brandon Lunty, the chair of the committee to review and bring the Forever Canadian petition to the legislature for a vote by MLAs. Because of course, the UCP is all about delay, delay, delay.

456,365 signatures! That's 55% over the required threshold! It is also 15% of all eligible voters in Alberta. We will either have a referendum on the question "Do you agree that Alberta should remain Canada?" or a vote in the Legislature (if the UCP has the guts, which I doubt very much). Take that Danielle Smith. And take that, Donald Trump. 51st state my foot.

Privileged to sign along side my wife today.

As we were finishing up a couple of ladies arrived at the table. One proudly declared she had signed the "Leave Canada Petition" and began spouting about "boots on our neck" and a seemingly outlandish number for "taxes stolen".
The other lady, her friend I believe, was very happy to sign the Remain in Canada Petition.

Now, I'm not always 100% up on the latest news, but I'm not aware of any approved petition that asks for Alberta to leave Canada. My meager search skills also produced nothing. This leaves me wondering...

What did "Ms. Leaver" sign and who was presenting it as a leave petition?
