Giornata, oggi, per riscoprire il valore delle risorse naturali che ci circondano. 21 marzo si celebrano contemporaneamente la

International Day of Forests

e il

World Wood Day

due ricorrenze complementari che raccontano l’importanza delle foreste e del legno per il nostro pianeta.

La Giornata Internazionale delle Foreste, istituita dalle Nazioni Unite nel 2012, ha l’obiettivo di sensibilizzare sull’importanza di tutti i tipi di foreste, fondamentali per la biodiversità, per la qualità dell’aria, per l’acqua e per il contrasto ai cambiamenti climatici.
Le foreste non sono solo paesaggi da ammirare, ma veri e propri ecosistemi vitali: sostengono milioni di persone, forniscono cibo, lavoro e contribuiscono alla salute dell’intero pianeta.

Accanto a questa ricorrenza troviamo il World Wood Day, una celebrazione che mette in luce il valore del legno come materiale naturale, rinnovabile e sostenibile. Il legno rappresenta una risorsa preziosa, capace di immagazzinare carbonio e di essere utilizzata in molteplici ambiti, dall’architettura all’artigianato, fino al design contemporaneo.
Un materiale antico, quindi, ma anche incredibilmente attuale, simbolo di un futuro più sostenibile.
