  1. One of my baby #eggplants is under attack. Not sure what's been eating it. My other eggplants are not under attack.

  2. Found a large patch of my fave early #wildberries to #forage for & eat - #thimbleberries 😀 I look forward to picking them, every Summer!

Thimbleberry aka redcaps is a #NativePlant & #WildFoodSource in PNW areas. It's thornless & good for #rewilding or creating #FoodForests. They're very seedy #fruits are sweet & similar to raspberry taste. They are great raw or cooked.
Their large, soft leaves can be used as natural toilet paper alternative. Leaves, shoots & roots are used by #Indigenous peoples to make #medicinal tea & leaves/roots were also used for burns & acne treatment.

  7. It's the start of #wildberries season on the island 😀 I found a large #IndianPlum bush/tree, filled with #berries. They look like tiny plums, hence their name. You can collect some wild seeds, at end of Summer, to grow in your gardens.

Once established, craftspeople can use their #wood to make self bows & straight shoots made into fine arrows. Wood can also be made into spoons/forks, knitting needles/crochet hooks & combs.

PNW #Indigenous #FirstNations used their bark, twigs & fruits for #food & #medicine sources. Sunnier locations provided larger, sweeter tasting berries.

  12. #TragopogonPorrifolius - Common #Salsify aka vegetable oyster or Jerusalem star.

It's a #wildflower that's fairly easy to grow in loose soil or in deep pots/grow sacks - they have deep & large taproots. Fab addition for #rewilding or as part of a #PollinatorGarden & #EdibleGarden. It takes 2 years from sowing for flowers to develop; first year will only show foliage.

Young shoots are #edible - raw or cooked & taste like asparagus. Their leaves & roots are edible & taste best before plant flowers. The roots have a mild oyster & asparagus taste. Their flower petals & sprouted seeds can be added to salads/sandwiches.

  17. Made some more floral #pollinator pots for some local plant buying customers. I only sell very healthy plants, in enriched soil & feed them before selling so buyers don't need to do much except transplant & keep up regular watering. I gift extra #plants to regulars too.

  18. One small greenhouse is filled with lots of #FoodPlant #seedlings & #starters - much transplanting to be done over next few days. I have regular, loyal plant customers who buy from me every Summer too - half of the plants here are already claimed by my loyal local customers 👩‍🌾✌💚

  19. I'm a #PotHead 👩‍🌾
Busy #sowing more #FoodPlant #seeds into small old pots.

Every year, I keep 1/3, sell 1/3 & give away 1/3 of all plant starters that I grow from seed. I have similar split method for plants that I end up propagating successfully.
