  1. One UI 8.5 Beta Program for the Z Fold/Flip7 is now open!

One UI 8.5 has made a significant appearance, with new features, design improvements, and other improvements. We are very thrilled to announce that Samsung has recently opened the One UI 8.5 Beta Program for the Galaxy Z Fold/Flip7 in the following countries:

This gives us a hint that the Beta Program is now open. Users should be able to try out One UI 8.5 in its earliest shape and form on their Galaxy Z Fold/Flip7 devices.

Please note that Samsung might not have opened the Beta program in your country yet, even if your country is eligible for beta testing. In this case, you’ll have to wait for the beta banner.

To join the Beta Program, you must have the latest version of Samsung Members installed. You can get the latest version through either the Galaxy Store or the Play Store. Once done, you should be able to join the program if you have an eligible device.

  2. Galaxy Z Fold/Flip 7 series One UI 8.5 beta forums and builds spotted!

One UI 8.5 is not an incremental version of One UI, but it’s a major overhaul of how you use your phone and how your phone looks. Fluent design, attractive looks, Now nudges, and new features are key changes to this version of One UI. The Galaxy S26 series, which is released this year, uses the full version of One UI 8.5, with software updates that improve the experience to come.

While the Galaxy S25 series is still being tested, the Beta forums for the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Flip7 devices has been revealed, which means that they are now live, as Mohammed Khatri (via Sammy Guru) spotted in the Indian and the Korean community forums.

This means that there’s a high chance that those foldables will have their first beta of One UI 8.5 being released soon, thus pushing the stable release date to mid-April, starting from the Galaxy S25.

Also, further indication that Samsung was working on One UI 8.5 Beta for the Fold7 and the Flip7 foldables has been made, because beta builds for the foldables have been spotted, as Alfatürk mentioned that builds F966NKSU8ZZC4 and F766NKSU8ZZC4 have been discovered in the Korean model of the two foldables.

We expect that Samsung officially announce the first beta of One UI 8.5 for the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Flip7 foldables in the middle of March, with the possibility that more devices may join the beta program before the stable release.

  6. One UI 8 for Galaxy S25 and Z Fold7 will feature the new photo watermark!

The new photo watermark feature will make its way to the latest One UI 8 version for the Galaxy S25 series and the Galaxy Z Fold7 foldable. While we are awaiting the stable One UI 8 rollout on September, with the fifth beta for the Galaxy S25 being scheduled for this week, the new photo watermark feature has been showcased by PhoneArt on X.

This new photo watermark comes in two styles: landscape and portrait. Below, you can see the two watermark styles, with the top being for portrait images, and the bottom being for landscape images.

As you can see, the images have a border that describes the device used, which, in this case, the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It also contains the date and the time the picture was taken, and a bunch of camera parameters used when taking the picture.

Currently, there is no information as to when and what devices will be eligible for this feature, other than the fact that the Galaxy S25 and the Z Fold7 will get it in the latest One UI 8 update. However, it might come to other eligible devices, like the Galaxy S24.

  11. Samsung updates the Galaxy Z Fold/Flip7 with stability improvements

Samsung has released the second patch update that allows your Galaxy Z Fold/Flip7 to be updated to the August 2025 security patch. This raises the fused bootloader version from v2 to v3 so that the rollback becomes impossible.

In addition to the usual security patch update, which happens monthly, it appears that this update also includes general improvements and bug fixes to keep One UI 8 running smoothly.

The following firmware information is available:

    • SM-F966N: F966NKSU3AYGH [KOO]
    • SM-F766N: F766NKSU3AYGK [KOO]
    • SM-F761N: F761NKSU3AYGK [KOO]

The update is not immediately available to all countries, so you’ll have to wait for a few days to be able to download the update to your foldable.

To install this security update, head to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Then, you should see the update screen that tells you that the security of your foldable has been improved. Now, press Download and Install, and the installation should finish in no more than 10 minutes.

  12. Samsung releases the first update for Galaxy Z Fold/Flip7

Samsung has recently released the first update for the brand new foldables released on July 25th, which are the Galaxy Z Fold7 and the Galaxy Z Flip7. The first update for it was surfaced first in Korea with the build number AYG5, then it rolled out to countries like the European countries with the build number AYGG for the Fold7 according to Tarun Vats, or AYGD for the Flip7. It has also been rolled out to the unlocked variant of the Galaxy Z Fold7 in the USA, as well as Canada, with the same build number as the European units.

Also, the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, which is a cheaper version of the Galaxy Z Flip7 fold phone, has been updated with the same software update. However, the rollout wasn’t finished yet for the three foldables, as countries like India still didn’t receive the update until now.

This is the first security update for these new foldables, but it also increases the bootloader version from v1 to v2, so the removal of this update becomes impossible.

The following firmware information has been laid out:

    • Galaxy Z Fold7
      • SM-F966B: F966BXXS2AYGG [EUX]
      • SM-F966U1: F966U1UES2AYGG [XAA]

      • SM-F766W: F766WVLS2AYGD [XAC]
      • SM-F766N: F766NKSS2AYG5 [KOO]
    • Galaxy Z Flip7 FE
      • SM-F761B: F761BXXS2AYG5 [EUX]
      • SM-F761U1: F761U1UES2AYG5 [XAA]
      • SM-F761N: F761NKSS2AYG5 [KOO]

To install this security update, head to Settings > Software update > Download and install. Then, you should see the update screen that tells you that the security of your foldable has been improved. Now, press Download and Install, and the installation should finish in no more than 10 minutes.
