in the early 90s there was a thing called the Anticopyright network. Mostly this was a distribution network for #flyposters (social, political not commercial and gigs). These were basically black & white, photocopies of photocopies to stick up.
Matt Fuller chronicled a lot of this in his Flyposter Frenzy book. they also distributed collections of posters. I found one of them. The fantastic thing about it is that it’s a list of #alttext descriptions. thread #diyculture #paperposts -
I took this photo because it sums up the vibe of where I live…it’s not at all unusual to see posters for the Socialist Worker’s party, XR or Just Stop Oil. People don’t tear them down if they don’t like them…they annotate them with neatly written labels like this one.
