Just spent 2h with oui.sncf.com @SNCF to book a not so complicated onwards for the summer break (postponed the backwards). What a bad coding. Besides the expensive trains. And then in Spain (just as I experienced in Greece before: most of the regional train connections that used to exist are gone and replaced by busses, not the way forward eather (here: Symbolbild Frankfurt main station). Still: #ZugStattFlug! #FlyLess

Was könnten wir alles erreichen, wenn wir eine @Bundesregierung hätten, die die Lenkungswirkung von Preissteuerung regulär auch jenseits von eratischen "Krisen"-Entwicklungen nutzen würde, um ihre #Klimaschutz-Ziele zu erreichen? Also mit ordentlicher Bepreisung von #fossilfuels über #ETS und hohe #Kerosinsteuer, Einbeziehung von Luftverkehr nicht nur über #greenwashing wie #corsia, extra-Abgaben für #Kurzfstreckenflüge, u.v.a.???

Now on my way from Bruxelles to #Amsterdam to catch my EuropeanSleeper night train there, as one does.
This #ECD9547 is very comfortable. It takes just 2 hours, 30 €.
Ventilation seems good, with 1100 ppm CO2 even after the wagon almost filled up in Antwerp.

Our so-called Leaders at the #EUCO apparently did not seem to seize the urgency, but at least did not kill the (already insufficient) 2040 EU #climate target. Still: a totally unnecessary extra lap that was taken, delaying the whole process. And: what at the end matters are the (legislative, then factual) measures that are taken to reduce emissions and achieve the target! #FlyLess #LessMeat #EndFossils #RestoreNature

I am now in #Warsaw after the last train of my #interrail trip from #Helsinki to #Milano and back. Overnight bus to Helsinki will follow. Every #NightTrain was full, so for once I took some detours and slept in #Prague, #Budapest and #Ostrava. As always, I stressed a lot about the train planning but I relaxed as soon as I got going. Everything went smoothly; a few times I missed a connection and arrived at destination with the very last train of the day.

Good morning with a coffee from Bellinzona! I am starting my trip to #ecpr2025 Thessaloniki 🇬🇷 today on the Southern side of the alps 🇨🇭.
The next two days will see me travel by train 🚄 to Ancona, by ferry ⛴️ to Igoumenitsa and then by bus to Thessaloniki 🚌. With some folding bike 🚲 time inbetween ❤️.
Wish me luck. Always happy for some words of encouragement, it is going to be a long trip.

Reine Verzögerungstaktik⚡ : @bmv setzt mit dem "Expertenforum klimafreundliche Mobilität (EKMI)" ein neues Beratergremium für Klimaschutz im Verkehr ein. Dabei liegen die notwendigen Maßnahmen und Instrumente längst auf dem Tisch:
Der #Projektionsbericht der @Bundesregierung zeigt Jahr für Jahr auf, dass die #Klimaziele des 🚘 🚚 ✈️ #Verkehrssektor verfehlt werden, und dass nur ein 🚫 💯 #Tempolimit (z.B. 30/80/110) substantielle Minderungsleistung erbringt. Plus: #Vermeidungsmaßnahmen (#Suffizienz), drastische Güterverkehrsverlagerung auf die #Bahn, Streichen umweltschädlicher Subventionen wie der #Pendlerpauschale (anstatt diese abzubauen) u.a.
Ähnliches zeigen alle #Klimaschutzszenarien wie #KN45 von #AgoraEW, #RESCUE oder bottom-up-Szenarien wie #KIS2030 des @Umweltbundesamt: Es geht nicht ohne #Vermeiden, #Verlagern #Verringern!
Jetzt noch ein neues Beratergremium aufzusetzen, das mit weichgespülten Maßnahmen-Vorschlägen kommen darf, die dann diese Legislatur nicht mehr umgesetzt werden, braucht kein Mensch!

“Where travel by train is an option and the journey time is less than SIX hours, this should be the default mode of transport even where it is not the most economical”.
