24. Complex/simple rpg you play

Simple I'd say #Follow, which I should play more often, tbh. Maybe you don't want to count it because it's this one shot experience, in which case I would say #PasiónDeLasPasiones

Complex, I've mentioned #FlyingCircus enough, let's say #TheWitcher

The game rewards preparation above all, combat is complex, but once it clicks, it feels hectic and intense

On the downside if you don't know the lore, there's a ton you miss about it

7. Smartest RPG you've played

I'm not sure. In a sense I don't think anything feels smart once it clicks, and yet the fact that it clicked at all makes a design smart.

#FlyingCircus is smart because it does actually feels like flying, compared to a lot of games that abstract too little and make no sense, or too much and you are just managing height, maybe

#PasionDeLasPaciones is smart because, at least here in latam, it requires near zero buy in, everyone know what it's about

6. Favorite game you never get to play

#FlyingCircus I ran it for a few sessions a couple years ago and played a one shot recently. It is very fun but I'm always stopping to explain stuff, not so much about the game, but about the planes and thus what options would players have in these situations

I'm no plane or dogfight expert, but maybe I would say I'm an enthusiast and without that familiarity most people will only fly straight, and if I'm running it "smartly" they would die

Watching Red Dwarf Seaon 4 Episode 6 - Meltdown, and there is a scene where the "good guys" are running, hitting land minds, and exploding.

Not really the same, but this always reminds me of Monty Python, and How not to be seen.

There is a canon of #TTRPGs almost mythical in how good they are but also in how hard it can be to get the right group together to play them.

Erika Chappell seems destined for this canon. #FlyingCircus might already be a member of that canon; I think there just needs to be time for it to be mythologized.

But “Heinlein Star Trek” is an broader pitch than “gay tactical plane game”, so I think #Torchship is a shoe in.

This won’t be the last #TTRPG I play, but I don’t think I’ve ever been more excited about a forthcoming game than I am about #Torchship.

@Role_Play_Chat I'm realizing I like an impossible medium - games that are complex in play but low-prep.

Games where you can just wing it as a GM, where you can make adversaries and challenges and environments and factions on a whim.

But still have enough bells and whistles to keep players (and GMs!) enthralled for session after session.
