You have no concern whatsoever for how much resources your new lifestyle actually consumes.

Some years ago here in Sweden Greta Thunborg started to use flygskam, to get us to travel smarter and save the environment

Perhaps we need a new word. AI-Shame, because I believe that air traveling is less harmful as the AI consumption per individual.

@OrangeMenace when I was last planning to cycle across Iceland (2009), the route I planned was ferry to Denmark, train to Norway, ferry to Iceland. Those ferries were running and bookable then, but I'm pretty sure the ferry from Shetland to Faroe no longer ran, and the ferry from Aberdeen to Norway (Stavanger, I think, could be wrong) had also been discontinued.

Yes, I could have flown, but I was already not flying then for #ClimateEmergency reasons.

Many Europeans know what #flygskam is these days. I'd appreciate more people to actually feel techno-fascism shame instead.

Reusable bag tags for checked bags should be an industry-wide aviation practice.

SAS is killing its reusable checked bag tag program on January 1, 2026. It only offered it to people who achieved “conscious traveler” status, which I just got in November. (I had to buy the biofuel surcharge on every flight and donate points.)

The feeling when you notice that some people in the #BahnBubble do intra-European flights in order to do journeys by train in some place they hadn't yet ticked off. Have you no shame (#flygskam)? Sheesh.

(I have to say that, if you listen to the popular 'Rest is Politics' podcast, you cannot help noticing that its presenters, while by no means billionaires, are consuming air travel at an absolutely astounding and grossly irresponsible rate.

We REALLY need to adopt the Swedish practice of #Flygskam into anglophone culture!)

The sun has definitely set but my journey is far from over. Just past Chester now and I am really looking forward to a (alcohol-free) beer in Holyhead now.

No fly summer travel adventures, with family, in 🇩🇪&🇩🇰, leaving from🇨🇭. Had a fabulous time trying out all sorts of ways of moving an extremely small car across Europe filled with 4 tall people. #EamonRyan crisscrossing the continent is various forms of stupid, but his added carbon footprint is the least problematic of them (other than for anyone who still thinks he walks the talk).

Reason being is those flights will happen anyway. Even if that seat was empty, the energy saving is a rounding error. What is needed is sufficiently less people flying that less aircraft ever take to the skies. #Flygskam only works if we all feel it and not just use it as a stick to beat others with.

@Trilobyter @failedLyndonLaRouchite IMO The term "Allowed to" here is like shaming but worse. We don't need to question individual commitments to balance use of resources. Better we save that judgement for discussing regulations or incentives, or stick to #flygskam.
