From today, people in the U.S. will be able to vaccinate themselves and their children against the flu. The FluMist nasal spray, which has been on the market since 2003, was approved last year for self- and caregiver administration, though with some limitations based on age and health. The vaccine still requires a prescription. Manufacturer AstraZeneca says it can be accessed by completing an online screening questionnaire, and most insurance plans will cover it at no cost. @Snarkypeds @DrScottK So many parents declined #vaccination despite my efforts to talk them into it this physical season. They wanted to wait until later, even when I said we would probably have an early season based on trends.
I've seen many who lamented they waited too long. They're scheduled for #FluShots this month and have #flu now. I make a point to remind them to still #vaccinate when they're feeling better because there's more than1 strain of flu and the shot covers 4.
