Каналы - механизм передачи данных между потоками или асинхронными задачами. Они отличаются моделью, поддержкой асинхронности, скоростью и кучей мелких деталей, о которые легко споткнуться. Thanks to #Flume and @homeassistant, I was notified when an old polybutylene pipe burst underneath my house and I was able to stop the water before disaster struck.

Yay, the Flume/YoLink duct tape auto-shutoff system seems to work.

(albeit, this was my son watering plants in the garden, not a real leak).

Set it to 5 GPM while I was away, now set to 10GPM. Although, if something starts pushing out 10 GPM for 10 minutes, that's still 100 gallons of water where you don't want it.

Home project of the week: installed a YoLink shutoff valve in conjunction with an existing Flume water monitoring device. Pricey (shutoff valve around $350) and very Internet dependent and relying on that company to continue to exist, but, after more than 120K+ in repairs on the house earlier this year after a burst pipe. A couple of years back @ai6yr shared a post about #Flume. I’ve had one for a while now and today it did its job perfectly. Spotted a consistent increase (small) in water use and alerted me that i might have a leak. And sure enough, I did - water hose on heater had failed.
Some smart home things are really useful. Also has helped me understand our household water use and cut it.
