  5. "It's just a smartphone app, how good can it be", I thought, but actually, FL Studio Mobile is a surprisingly capable #MusicProduction tool, _and_ the UX is mostly pretty good, too.

Parameter automation by recording and/or visual editing, scales, audio and MIDI FX racks, sends, external MIDI, real synths (not just samples), stem export, …

The main thing I miss is trigger modifiers like "40% chance" or "every 1 of 3 iterations" for individual notes.

  7. bruh suddenly i'm revisiting an old midi song from guitar pro 3 era. what year that was-- what???

    ok i believe it's 2004 or so.

yeah i'm a bandman, musician and a hobbyist game composer. i made original VGM-like midi music in my teen. i think i have potential but never wanna push it well. now? still same (except i don't do band anymore), just very very rusty.

  8. Okay, so I'm making #ElectronicMusic and as with every #hobby, there's an expense and thousands of companies vying for your hard earned cash. You can absolutely argue that #AudioPlugins are an extremely frivolous thing to buy because stock #DAW devices are so good these days and I'd agree with you, especially (for me) in the case of #Bitwig Studio 6.1. That said, they don't cover every eventuality and there is probably a plugin for exactly that.

Outside of the DAW there's a massive headache waiting for anyone who has more than a small handful of plugins. I've somehow amassed about 670+ of the buggers and that *IS* ridiculous. Imagine keeping them all up-to-date manually. Yeah, that. There's a myriad of ways, branded managers and installers, direct downloads, and even manually dropping files into folders. This is a nightmare and there really hasn't been an app that attempts to at least make this problem easier to manage. Enter: #PluginHub pluginhubapp.com

I caught this app on a random YouTube recommendation and saw an interview with the developer, Zach. The app seemed like a no brainer for me, so I installed it and when the demos had run, I instabought it for the very reasonable $29.99 for a two seat (!) licence. Zach offers very generous options for for studios, education, etc.

The aim of the app is to catalogue your plugins and flag any that need updating and helps you get those updates done by pointing you to the sites, downloaders and managers you need to use in order to keep your stuff up-to-date. Obviously not every brand and plugin is covered here and that is one of the things Zach is actively working on with plugin companies themselves. It is basically a very neatly laid out plugin database and version comparator. Simple idea, not so simple in execution. Cat herding would be more rewarding, I'm sure!

The app is new and has some minor bugs, but nothing major and nothing that makes it not useful in the extreme, day one.

I chatted with Zach back and forth over email regarding a bug I was experiencing, not so much a fault of PluginHub, but a slightly botched update by a vendor's updater app itself! He is super happy to hear about bugs and issues, is very responsive and friendly to boot. He is actively working on the app for #macOS exclusively at the moment (SORRY!) but a #Windows version is in the pipeline with #Linux under consideration.

Anyways, not an ad lol, just a very happy and excited user, knowing this will be useful for many #Musodon peeps recording in the box, using plugins.

  10. I made this using #FLStudio after a friend asked me how to make dubstep, and I did not know the answer. I used 3XOscillators to make all of the instruments, and used LFOs applied to filters to produce the characteristic "wub" sounds.

  12. Hey Nexirift peeps

i'm peeping it and need work to make some extra dollarinos aside from my j*b in the real world
looking for a bad voice actor? bad music writer/producer? or just a buddy to hang out in discord calls or whatever while working on projects? that may be me! prolly not tho, again i got a job that i can't exactly afford to miss
oh you want examples of my work? well i haven't done anything so i don't have anything but if you can suggest something i'm sure to maybe possibly see it and even lower chance of maybe possibly making a lil recording of my voice/music whatever you need
anyway this prolly won't get any attention but if at least one creator out there laughs at this lil reach out post and wants to help out i'd be a happy lil gal :3
anyway bye bye nexipeeps i'll be back in whenever i get bored enough to post again

  16. Lately, after a long time, I've been doodling music again. It's amazing how quickly skills atrophy when left unused.

Might as well post 'em here. Let me know what you think.

  17. Discovered this free DAW plugin manager. I've been looking for something like this for a while. I am pleased to say it works really well and clawed back 26GB of space on my internal drive!
It doesn't delete the plugin, but offloads them to another location that you specify (if you like) I moved mine to an external drive. Plugoff stores with them the original location, so you can reverse the process on an individual plugin basis, or in bulk.

So I posted about FL Studio producers struggling in Logic Pro, and I asked Claude to explain it. Here's what it said:

"FL Studio is basically a video game, not a DAW. Everything is Tetris patterns on a grid. Then you open Logic and realize there's a *timeline*? That moves *forward in time*?? Devastating.

Also, FL's piano roll is so good it ruins people forever. And don't even get me started on FL producers discovering the mixer is... optional decoration where they came from.

Essentially, FL Studio is bumper bowling. Fun, effective — but remove the bumpers and some people just throw the ball into another lane entirely."

RIP to every FL producer who opened Logic and immediately closed it. 😂 #MusicProduction #FLStudio #LogicPro #DAW

  19. Anyone would like to move to another #DAW ?
#Bitwig has a special crossgrade offer (199€ instead of 399€) for artists who think about to make a change: bitwig.com/crossgrade/

Most major DAWs are supported like #Ableton #LogicPro #CockosReaper #FLStudio and more.
