I am really proud of this one. And I love the fact that it is designer gouache, what a beautiful medium!

One day, I wish to make a living from my art, even if in five years, I would be very glad. I have questions, curiosity, all that leads me toward new art. I love my art, while I still would love to ask you, should I add yellow dots onto the flowers from my last post? I created the blue with just cobalt blue and white, and forgot to add some yellow buds. Questions that keep me going, how do I create super neat stuff, how do I spell flower buds... I am three years into gouache now and my mind is just slowly allowing me to have a concept of what I do. And can I use the #watercolor hashtag for gouache art, too?

When we moved to our current home 40+ years ago, there were some rose bushes along a fence. The roses bloomed every year. Over time, the fence was replaced and hydrangea, ferns and a burning bush took over where the roses had been and at some point, the roses stopped blooming. Then 2 years ago, a single rose bloomed.

This is that rose.

Columbine flowers.

They bloom in late April in our yard. They're so pretty, they look like curtains. I especially like the stamens hanging out of the flower. They plants are about 1-1.5 feet tall and the flowers hang down, so I often sit or lay on the ground to shoot up into the flowers.

Geranium palustre, also called Marsh Cranesbill.

We have a lot of these, they bloom from late April until October. Small flowers growing close to the ground. I like to catch the flowers when they're just opening because they have 5 gray stamens and 5 white ones with blue racing stripes. As the flowers mature, all the stamens stand up and become gray.

Flowers amaze me.

Jan grew a nice batch of poppies in 2020. It was the first time I'd photographed poppies. I quickly discovered that I had to get them early in the morning when they first opened if I wanted to get a nice shot of the yellow pollen on the stamens, before the various insects worked their magic on them.
