Water has powered industry for centuries. This undershot waterwheel powered a flour mill. One of a number on The Whanganui river, but the only one restored.
Something about waterwheels, belts and flywheels is so simple yet so productive in producing power.
And it is a constant source in a river.
Just like generating electricity, but with no middle man.
Hmm.
