🤔 Ich habe ja jetzt einige Leute im Umfeld, die zu #GrapheneOS und Co umgezogen sind. Höre aber oft, dass vielen die Nutzung der #FOSS-Tastaturen aus #FDroid schwer fällt. Die sind alle ne gute #Autokorrektur gewöhnt. Und wenn ich ehrlich bin, nervt mich dieser Schwachpunkt auch etwas.

Hat da jemand Ideen, wie man da noch nach bessern kann? Kennt jemand noch Alternativen, die ohne Internetanbinding auskommen?

Dachte schon daran vorzuschlagen, #Gboard zu installieren und die Netzwerk-Permission zu entziehen. Keine Ahnung, ob das dann aber noch ordentlich funktioniert. Mit #FlorisBoard, #HeliBoard, #SimpleKeyboard etc. ist es den meisten einfach zu friemelig, weil die Autokorrektur zu oft Schwachsinn vorschlägt.

Installed #FlorisBoard as it seems to have arrow keys. Sadly the german layout is missing the Umlaute, so its pretty useless...

Thats like using a #VPN only in the browser, or adding #FreeSoftware apps on a system full of #spyware... doesnt make much sense and you leak more data than you think.

I have been on the lookout for a sensible Gboard replacement that wasn't making my (voice) typing experience painful, and so far only FUTO Keyboard managed to provide that.

It has really good offline voice typing as well, which is something I use a lot.

I can not recommend this enough!

Auf #Android niemals die vorinstallierte Tastatur verwenden, gerade bei #Samsung mit seiner bloatware!

Stattdessen #Heliboard (wenn man Autokorrektur braucht) oder #Florisboard (um stattdessen die Tastatur so anzupassen, dass man auch so schreiben kann)

Software-Tastaturen sind (theoretisch) #Keylogger und brauchen volles Vertrauen!

#FlorisBoard prend en charge des extensions de thèmes, de langues et de dictionnaires. Généralement ce sont des paquets ayant pour extension `.flex` qui sont à l'origine des fichiers compressés au format `.zip`

Après avoir contribué à AnySoftKeyboard, HeliBoard, Fossify Keyboard, Futo Keyboard, je m'intéresse maintenant à FlorisBoard.

#FlorisBoard possède un dépôt NLP pour aider les utilisateur·rice·s à créer un dictionnaire de suggestions à base de n-grams : mots fréquents dans une langue.

I downloaded florisboard beta :blobcatgiggle:

A few issues:

1. No word suggestions
2. No glide typing
3. No autocorrect
4. No search in emojis

Otherwise, me Likey. I was able to connect Futo voice input also. Let me try the stable release then.

Hu... i'm just trying the old #blackberry keyboard for android. I really loved it back in my bb10 days. It works much better for me then any other android keyboard. The key spacing, the key placement and the word prediction are really great. It's a shame #heliboard or #florisboard doesn't have a layout like the blackberry keyboard...

You may recall, I was trying to find a #privacy-respecting keyboard for Android that could work with FUTO Voice Input.

The best I could figure out was #FlorisBoard.
But suddenly people who made Voice Input published a keyboard...
And it's all I could ever ask for, plus the voice recognition is a couple times faster! It's INSANE.

The software isn't exactly #opensource, it's what I'd call "fair software" (referencing #freesoftware).

I'm testing this #FlorisBoard as a replacement for Gboard on my phone. And what's awesome is - it does work with #FUTO Voice Input. So I can have voice typing without requiring any online services. And without having to click through menus each time I want to use it. Awesome!
You can find both of these open source apps in the F-droid app library.

Could this be the FOSS replacement do Gboard? Time to try it out!

At best it's a free tool vs a paid tool but when it comes to things like web browsers it's hard for a lot of normal people to understand why it's better.

@lauteshirn openboard nutze ich auch, wobei ich weiß, dass #FlorisBoard auch beliebt ist. Gerade nochmal bei fdroid nachgeguckt und scheinbar hat #SimpleTools auch eine Tastaturapp rausgebracht.

Zu FlorisBoard gab es gerade noch den Hinweis: Unter Einstellungen sollte man unter > Erweitert die Option "Privaten Modus erzwingen" aktivieren, um die Funktionen zu deaktivieren, die "vorübergehend mit deinen Eingabedaten arbeiten"
