I think I’m in favour of the proposed Glyndŵr National Park. Yeah, it’ll scupper some planning arrangements but having the Dee Valley and Clwydian Range promoted from AONB to a National Park would be good for the local tourist economy.

The magnificent Jesse Window in the village church at Llanrhaeadr, near #Denbigh. It's thought to date from the early 16th century and may have been lifted from Basingwerk Abbey in #Flintshire at the time of its Dissolution. The most complete #medieval window in North #Wales. #StainedGlassSunday

Two more photos of the 10th Century Maen Achwyfan (Achwyfan's Stone), as per my pervious post. No one seems to know who Achwyfan was. I've only just learnt its design suggests #Viking influence. If so they must have struck inland into #Flintshire and perhaps settled there. #StandingStoneSunday

Y Gop in #Flintshire, the second-largest prehistoric mound in Europe. Like its much bigger cousin Silbury Hill, it contains no burials but unlike Silbury it may mark their location: in a cave below the mound #Neolithic and Bronze Age skeletons were found, showing 1000s of years of use. #TombTuesday

⚠️🧊 In addition to the snow warning in effect for tomorrow, #MetOffice have also issued a Yellow Warning for Ice that covers eastern parts of #Flintshire & #Wrexham. This new warning is in effect Tue evening until 10am tomorrow. There is a concern of icy patches forming on untreated surfaces.

⚠️ #MetOffice have issued a Yellow Warning for Thunderstorms across #Conwy, #Denbighshire, #Flintshire, #Gwynedd, and #Wrexham, effective until 9pm this evening. Some may see sudden downpours which could bring 20-40 mm of rainfall in a short period of time. While not everyone will see rain, those who do are at risk of some localised flooding. A deep area of low pressure, will bring a spell of very windy weather to parts of western #Wales this weekend. Gusts of 50 mph are expected quite widely on Saturday, while some exposed spots, particularly on the coast, will see 60 to 70 mph gusts with large waves also likely.

⚠️❄️ #MetOffice have issued an AMBER Warning for Snow & Ice in parts of #Conwy, #Denbighshire, #Flintshire and #Wrexham, 8am-3pm Thurs. Over high ground, 10-15cm snow is expected - possibly 20-25cm above 200m. Strong winds may lead to drifting. Also risk of freezing rain.

Lower areas may get 2-5cm, but not everywhere. This may fall as sleet or rain at times. As a result, Met Office have issued a Yellow Warning for Snow for the entire region, in effect between 6am Thurs and 6am Fri.
