1.Enjoyed a day in #NYC after the rain moved out; humid, but the usual summer stench was washed away.
2. Dinner at #CafeMogador in the East Village. Decent Moroccan cuisine. Recomended.
3. Saw #ElizabethBougerol at #Joe’sPub . An intimate show, celebrating #TonyBennett 100th b'day.
Bonus: We got a #FlatTire after leaving the parking garage. #AAA arrived quickly, changed it & adjusted pressure in the spare. We made it home late, but safe and sound.

A Flashback Friday to 2 years ago: While driving my moving truck and towing my car, I had a flat tire before reaching Reno. After a 6 hour wait on I-80, 1 hour of sleep in Reno, and tire replacement, I made it to Jackpot later that day on my way back to Montana.

I haven't had a #flattire on my daily #mountainbike in over a year and now 3 in a week. 🙃 I replaced the tube with a new one the first time and then patched it twice with a repair kit. I also made sure to check and clean the tyre and rim for sharp objects each time. So either my good luck has been balanced by bad luck, or the universe is trying to tell me something. 😂 #bicycle

This evening’s 35-miler took a bit longer than expected because I had to break out ol’ Sometimes Helpful Hand Pump. It did it’s job, after some coaxing …
To be fair, my pump is about 15 years old and has been dropped, at speed, several times.
Relatedly, if you have a recommendation for a hand pump that will 1.) fit in a jersey pocket and 2.) fill a tube with air, and not me with roadside regret … I am in the market.

I found the problem this time. It was #patch failure from when I patched that nail hole.
I'm using "no name rubber cement" from a hardware store.
I was able to pull the patch off without much trouble at all.
It is a warm day. I wonder if this cement is no good at any kind of temperature.
I pulled the patch off with ease, no where near 30 pounds of pull.
Now its off to the store for a different kind of glue.

I sense an issue with fat tires. I have 4inch tires on my bike and I seem to be getting a lot of flats.

@ascentale #bikenite A5 #flattire #cycling I’ve had more issues over the years with small pieces of wire than I’ve had with glass. Finding a single stand of wire in the tire before the repairing/replacing the tub is a chore, but save on the repeats. My new bike has really thick Goodyear Country and they’ve held up well on almost any surface (except for speared with wire). When they’re worn out looking at the Schwalbe Marathon +, but will definitel check the roooling resistance chart!

It has been a WEEK... both figuratively AND literally. I wasn't 200 miles into my move on Monday, and my brand new moving truck and trailer had a blowout on I-80. I waited in the middle of nowhere from 6pm to midnight for 2 tow trucks, which added a day to the move. The good news: I made it to Billings Thursday afternoon and to work at KTVQ Friday morning! WHEW! The moral of the story: remember to get the insurance!
