  1. I've just realised this is a side-effect of #Flatpak. Installing #Flatseal and granting #Waterfox access to the folder solves the issue.

  2. Just came across a #flatpak oddity where browser based file uploads don't show all the available folders in you home folder due to sandboxing. Have to use #Flatseal to grant the file permissions. #linux

  3. @Nymnympseudonymm

    I've got #LibreWolf installed as a #Flatpak.

    Was going to reply that, unfortunately, LibreWolf wouldn't work with my #YubiKeys …then it occurred to me:

    #Flatseal > Applications > LibreWolf > Device > All devices > ON

    LIbreWolf Flatpak now does #FIDO2 on #Linux!

  4. Why is this still an issue on #Element :))

    It's been a thing for mooooonths (or a year?) despite not being an issue before, and I'm not sure if it's to do with Element or
    #KDE/#Kwallet (or something else entirely i.e. #Flatpak). The last time I had an issue relating to Kwallet was with #VSCode and even that required some weird workaround (IIRC, lying that we're using #GNOME 's keychain or smtg like that).

    I've been using
    #NeoChat but I swear Element's the best #Matrix client and I miss having it.

    edit: omfg, a workaround was found apparently since I last looked into this a ~year ago. Adding
    org.kde.kwalletd6 to its 'Session Bus' list (i.e. through #Flatseal) works! I can happily use Element again!!! 🥳

  5. @mosgaard As recommended by usebottles.com, I installed #Bottles as a Flatpak package. I also installed #flatseal, but not as a Flatpak.

    I can't say yet whether this is the best option. I'm still testing it out. It will be a few more days before I can say more about it.

  6. #flatseal is really great to turn off background process of the #ente app.
    I hate #electron apps

  7. @lcruggeri

    Had to postpone digging into it. But turning on the global "Wayland windowing system" was an immediate win as it fixed Obsidian scaling.

    So thanks for that quick bonus. Will have to sett aside some time as revealed so many interesting options to get my head around.

  8. Sure, every other app on #Linux needs an explicit invite to use #Wayland via the environment (or by using #flatseal), that makes perfect sense, nobody wants crisp font rendering, why would they autodetect that in 2025 by default

    SERIOUSLY

  9. You can now install #Flatseal, the popular #Flatpak manager in #GTK4/#libadwaita from official #Debian (trixie+) repository.

  10. Another #3dprinting question - if I have a #BambuLab #3Dprinter, is using the #BambuStudio app the way to go for printing, or is there an alternative, better app I could use?

    BambuStudio is nice in the sense that not only is it on
    #Linux, but it's also avai as a #Flatpak which makes installing it easy, but idk... I've only started printing stuffs yest but so far, doesn't seem like that app is as intuitive as I'd want it to be. Things seem a lil messy and not quite what I imagined or like (I think) I've seen used by others on YT videos where you could see a preview of the model you're printing in 3D where you could adjust its angle and wtnot before sending it to print.

    Any suggestions/pointers?

    ---

    Update: OH, maybe I am supposed to be getting a 3D preview of what I'm printing, I just don't (on BambuStudio) cos it's an issue on Linux perhaps specifically for
    #NVIDIA GPU users.

    ---

    Update 2: Workaround to the missing preview issue. Include each of the following env variables to the app, using
    #Flatseal if you're using the Flatpak:

    __EGL_VENDOR_LIBRARY_FILENAMES=/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/GL/default/share/glvnd/egl_vendor.d/50_mesa.json

    WEBKIT_DISABLE_DMABUF_RENDERER=1

    WEBKIT_FORCE_COMPOSITING_MODE=1

    WEBKIT_DISABLE_COMPOSITING_MODE=1

  11. Oh, just realised it's not only happening in #Firefox but #Thunderbird too. Nothing's changed as far as I can tell with my fontconfig or #Flatpak permissions via #Flatseal. Don't think the font settings on Firefox/Thunderbird themselves have changed either. If I've to guess, maybe they updated #GTK versions or something which does often break stuff on #KDE (on how they look).

    - Never used , but works super well with communicating w/ via . Would make for an awesome

  14. @Rasp you can just give it the permission to do so via #flatseal that might help

  16. Fun for anyone technical who's :

    From what I can tell, -installed scanner apps cannot connect to -connected .

    There must be a way through or whatnot to enable it, but I haven't figured it out, not even if I add /dev/bus/usb to the list of allowed files.

  17. On the nice @fedora Cinnamon spin:

    The default system monitor is a libadwaita app from Gnome. It looks out of place.

    Installed #flatpak, #flathub, & the Mission Center system monitor... it's also libadwaita.

    Installed #Flatseal to give flatpaks access to themes. Flatseal is less a GUI tool & more a collection of forms to type into.

    But, flatpaks don't know about /usr/share/themes, no matter what?

    Installed Mate's system monitor, manually edited Cinnamon's menu, deleted the flatkpak stuff.
