  1. I've just realised this is a side-effect of #Flatpak. Installing #Flatseal and granting #Waterfox access to the folder solves the issue.

  6. Just came across a #flatpak oddity where browser based file uploads don't show all the available folders in you home folder due to sandboxing. Have to use #Flatseal to grant the file permissions. #linux

    I've got #LibreWolf installed as a #Flatpak.

Was going to reply that, unfortunately, LibreWolf wouldn't work with my #YubiKeys …then it occurred to me:

    #Flatseal > Applications > LibreWolf > Device > All devices > ON

LIbreWolf Flatpak now does #FIDO2 on #Linux!

  15. Why is this still an issue on #Element :))

It's been a thing for mooooonths (or a year?) despite not being an issue before, and I'm not sure if it's to do with Element or
#KDE/#Kwallet (or something else entirely i.e. #Flatpak). The last time I had an issue relating to Kwallet was with #VSCode and even that required some weird workaround (IIRC, lying that we're using #GNOME 's keychain or smtg like that).

    I've been using
#NeoChat but I swear Element's the best #Matrix client and I miss having it.

    ---

edit: omfg, a workaround was found apparently since I last looked into this a ~year ago. Adding
org.kde.kwalletd6 to its 'Session Bus' list (i.e. through #Flatseal) works! I can happily use Element again!!! 🥳

  20. @mosgaard As recommended by usebottles.com, I installed #Bottles as a Flatpak package. I also installed #flatseal, but not as a Flatpak.

I can't say yet whether this is the best option. I'm still testing it out. It will be a few more days before I can say more about it.

  25. I am so proud of my wife. She has moved over to GNU/Linux a few months ago and today she had her real first issue. Her Minecraft client, Prism, would not patch. She searched for a solution and was able to figure it out by updating Flatpak and enabling a setting in Flatseal. A lot of people would have been upset and just said "I don't know what to do!" She actually did the Linux thing and found the solution>

She seems to be enjoying her time on Linux Mint.

    Have a
#Flatpak app that is refusing to obey your system "GTK+ Application Style" settings?

    Use
#FlatSeal and adjust the flatpak permissions for the app and give it access to everything in your $HOME directory.

    Relaunch your app.

    Then re-apply your

  39. @lcruggeri

Had to postpone digging into it. But turning on the global "Wayland windowing system" was an immediate win as it fixed Obsidian scaling.

So thanks for that quick bonus. Will have to sett aside some time as revealed so many interesting options to get my head around.

  44. Sure, every other app on #Linux needs an explicit invite to use #Wayland via the environment (or by using #flatseal), that makes perfect sense, nobody wants crisp font rendering, why would they autodetect that in 2025 by default

    SERIOUSLY
